So a friend and I are combining our resources and products and storing it at my place... he doesn't have a place to keep everything since he lives in an apartment shared with 5 other guys lol... college life! I'm at home so i got all the space I need..

anyways, we've decided that it's time we invest in a shop vac. I have no clue what's on the market and what to look for. We just want something not TOO expensive but powerful enough with all the accessories to it (attachments to go on the hose??).

We need it for interior detailing of course... it will help with other junk too.

Can anyone recommend some brands or websites to look at ? Also, how much do these things cost and are there any good deals out there?

I got a 1 HP, 1 gallon one at home (Shop Vac brand) since it came on sale for like $15. I live in an apartment so I just use the outside vacs (50 cents to use). It's pretty good at picking stuff up at home. It came with 2 attachments.

Just go to a hardware store or something and see which one fits in your budget. The bigger ones come with more attachments (http://www.shop-vac.com/web/products/index.shtml)

 

It depends on how much power you are looking for. For example, I use a 2 hp Shop Vac that I bought at Aldi for around $40.

But if you intend to do it professionally, I would recommend a 6 hp model because when you are detailing professionally, time is $$$. I'd look at the 6 hp Craftsman, Rigid, or Shop-Vac.

 

thanks for the help guys. Since we'll be splitting the cost on it, we might as well go for the 6hp one... we don't have any plans to detail professionally, but it'd be nice to have something powerful to do the job well.

I guess i'll take a trip to home depot this weekend and see what's on sale! thanks again!

 

I have a rigid shop vac....got it at home depot, it does its job.

 

I got a rigis 5hp vac at the home depot. It also is a blower...great unit.
