scratches on the bumper

I live in NYC, so parking really messes up your bumper. PPL here dont give a
**** about others cars so the all the bumpers get scratched up. Anyone know how to clean up those eye sores on the back. Everytime before I get in the car I check the back and whenever I notice something new it upsets me. What can I do, short of taking it a shop?

Thanks in advance.

My friend does a lot of detailing and completely cleaned up my car for me this weekend.

Unfortunately, he said the bumper is a lost cause and that I'll need to either get it re-finished or replaced at an auto body shop.

The person who owned my car last lived in Woodbridge and the bumper is scratched to hell. I imagine she worked in New York, JC, or Hoboken. Those places are killer on bumpers.
