cleaning tint

I just got my tint done last week and was wanting to clean them. I use Stoners IG and it says that it is safe on all tints. Is this really the case, or are their exceptions??

Yes, most purpose-made automotive glass cleaners like Invisible Glass should be tint safe and usually say so. The point is to avoid ammonia (ie, most cheap household window cleaners).

I would use a fine microfiber cloth. Paper is very scratchy.

Yup use a "quality" Micro Fiber. I get mine hereSonus Detailing towels
For a cleaner I use Eagle One 20/20 orSonus Or 1Z Glass Cleaner Click Here

Make sure you clean in the shade and spray the cleaner all over the tinted glass. Take the first MF Towel and lightly clean. Then take the 2nd towel and dry. Thats it.

Thers may be scratches that you can't see yet ? Why take the chance when you can buy microbfiber pretty cheap these days.

After washing I use 100% terry towels for the windows. Combined with Stoners IG it leaves no streaks or scrathes.

But was this on aftermarket film-tinted windows, or just on plain glass?

For ordinary glass or factory tint, newspaper is fine, but I'd never try that on aftermarket film-tinted glass....

I use stuff called PROTECTINT, with a microfiber cloth. It comes in a little black bottle. I dunol if is available anymore. The tint comes out really smooth, as if it has some sort of extra coating. Works Amazingly well.

You're lucky - paper is really fiberous and can easily scratch the tint - I would agree that Microfibre is probably the best bet, or a high quality cotton towel.

A local tint shop here recommends Plexus plastic cleaner protectant and polish. Comes in a spray can. Besides cleaning it's supposed to seal the plastic and make small imperfections less noticable.

It's popular with airplane owners.
