vinyl/leather repair kit, worth it?
vinyl/leather repair kit, worth it?
I have a rip in my vinyl door panel that i'm trying to remedy. Anybody ever try that vinyl/leather repair stuff? It's got different colored pigments, a soldering iron with a flat tip, and some sort of texture pad. Any advice welcome, aside from buying a new panel.
Yes, I have tried it before on my door in fact. I thought it worked rather well. If you take your time and follow the instructions, it comes out very nice. I don't think you can tell there has been a repair unless you are looking for it.
Hope this helped

Worked for me as well, and that was two months ago. Just take your time. Can't see hole anymore. Lucky for me I have black leather seats, so matching color is not a problem.
( I have a nasty habit of putting screwdriver in my back pocket, so like an idiot while working on CD changer I poked a 1/2 inch hole in driver seat. )

Ouch, a 1/2 inch hole in the seat. that sucks man! but it could have been worse right? I mean, you could have been working on the CD player and the screw driver could have gone in your ***! lol that would be something that the leather/vinyl repair kit could not fix!
IMO, this kit is worth it and like hurleybob said, take your time and it will come out fine. Good luck.

I think the kit is like $10 or close to that. It depends if you get the kit with an iron or w/o. You need an iron to use the kit, so if you don't have one then you can either get the kit with the iron or you can use a saudering iron with the end piece that comes with the other kit.
Unfortunately, I don't have any before and after pics, but I can tell you it turned out pretty good, just take your time with it.
If you try it and its not perfect, it should at least look better than it does right now right?
