car wash & wax, no water required

Couple of days ago my friend and i ran into a guy in front of a Sam's Club doing a demo for a car cleaning product. He was using this product called Premium Ezwax. He applied it to a dirty part of my car and rubbed it in and wiped it off. The spot came out very clean and shiny. He says it is a petroleum based product and that it lifts the dirt off the paint so that it can be wiped away without scratching it and also waxes the surface. Water is not used at all just the spray and a microfiber towel. If anyone knows about this product, please let me know if it is harmful to the paint because i am a little sceptical.

I haven't heard of this product, but like you, I'd be skeptical. Sounds basically like a quick detail spray. I use QD sprays, but only on very light dirt/dust. It would be hard to believe that this product could remove a lot of dirt without harming the finish.

How dirty was your car? If it was fairly dirty, I'd closely inspect the area he cleaned to look for swirl marks/scratching.

Yeah, I agree with bluesbrekr. I'd still wash my car to get any dirt off THEN wax. Just for some peace of mind.

Yeh the car had a caked on layer of dirt and it came right off without leaving any visible scratches. On the bottle it says it is a petroleum based product, could this cause any long term damage to the paint or clear coat. THANKS for your help.

Most cleaner type waxes are petroleum based, so no, it shouldn't damage your clear coat or paint.

I'd probably try that stuff as a QD, but I still wouldn't want to wash a really dirty car with anything except water and car shampoo.

I have used a product called Dri Wash n Guard (sp). This might be the same type of product. Directions said you can use it on a dirty car, but I always washed first - call me a skeptic). I used it on the hood of my 91 Max (black). It did a pretty good job. They recommend using tery cloth for application and removal. My car was not very dirty. I did not trust it enough to keep using it on my Max, but I have used it quite a bit on my 88 red Toyota pickup. I have had no problems with it; no scratches or swirls. It's very easy to use and seems to last a while. I'll stick with Meguair's for my Maxima, though(results on my web page).

I've been using Ezwax for about 2 years on all of my cars. Ironically I also saw a guy demonstrating out at Sam's Club and was very skeptical as to whether or not it would work. After talking the guy down to getting one can, I took it home and tried it right away on my 2002 black Maxima. 35 minutes later I was on my way back to Sam's to get a case! This stuff Ezwax made my car look better than it did the day I bought it. It removed all swirl marks, light scraches, soap film, light dirt, everything came off my car and left a show room shine that lasted about 3 months. I recently traded for a 05 Maxima and the dealer was amazed with the condition of my paint. I now use it on all of my cars and tell all of my friends whenever I can. If anybody runs accross this product I encourage them to try it.

No it didn't. A wax can only fill in, or hide, swirls and scratches. If it were really that good, I think more people would have heard about it. I've never heard of it before.
I don't go shopping for detailing supplies at the Sam's Club parking lot either.

This stuff sounds exactly like the Dri Wash & Guard stuff I used (like I said above - could be same product with a different name). The guy in the parking lot was probably a dealer/salesman and you can only get the stuff from a dealer/salesman. They also try to recruit more dealers and then get a cut of their sales. Kinda like Amway. The stuff that I used really worked. They specify that you use only terry cloth to apply and remove. I used it a couple times on my 91 black Max, but haven't used it on my AE. I used it all the time on my red Toyota pickup and it still looks great after 17 years. However, I usually washed the vehicle first.

I have a bottle of the Dri-Wash and Guard stuff, its sort of like a pump bottle and then sprays on. I never use it, but I got it free from a guy I used to work with who had just started selling it and wanted me to spread the word to my friends. I tried it once on bird crap and it worked fine, but nothing beats a good old hand wash.

i also have tried EZ wax and am as enthusiastic about it as 2005maxinit. i was rally amazes on how it worked. i never really used it on a real dirt car, except for my 90 pearl white max. it also did a great job with that car as well. if the car is really dirty it is best to give it a quick wash with soap and water first. just to get all of the heavy dirt off. it is a great product to quickly detail the car. i used it about twice a week. i also used it on my rims in which it did a great job at getting brake dust off and helped provide a coat against future brake dust. i would recommend this product also. just make sure the car is not too too dirty.

oh yeah, i also bought in sams club parking lot. the funny thing is if i were driving my car i wouldnt have let them try it out on my car. good thing was i was driving my girlfriends car. DAH
