New paint job...

Well, just being mad at how poorly the car was taken care of before I bought it, I think i want to just get it repainted this upcoming spring. Not to mention, the paint seems a tad faded.

Heres the thing, It looks like ill be getting roughly $800 back next spring (taxes), and I want to go ahead and cover my $1000 deductable and get it repainted and fix the misc dents and my rear bumper. Anyone know if its easy or not to just pay the deductable on insurance and they will cover a complete repaint? I have dents on most the car (big shallow dent on hood, rear bumper scuffed up, scuff on front bumper, shallow dent under body molding on driver side door, 1 or 2 pea sized dents on roof, etc). Keep in mind, its been like this the whole time ive owned the car, previous owner was a d-bag and didnt take care of it.

I figure, I can pay the $1000 deductable, and get everything fixed up nice, and put on the same Crimson Blaze Red paint over the car, color sanded, and a nice clearcoat on top. Think that would work ok with insurance come spring? Or will they not allow something like that.

I think that'd be insurance fraud since you bought the car with most of those problems. You might be able to work something out with them but I doubt it.

you might be better off paying for the whole thing. having insurance pay might raise your premiums... and they will not want to paint the whole car.
