I have swirl marks on my car and im wondering if its from me or the person before me. I just wanted to know what are the best products to:

Apply and Remove
Wax
Polish
Paint Cleaner
and so on.... Also what fabric do you use when you wash your car?

 

Apply - freshly washed bonnet, with the rubber backing. Prevents the product from leaking back into the foam backing on the buffer. I apply cleaner and polish coats with a buffer. I prefer to apply wax coats by hand to reduce overspray onto rubber trim. By the time you get to the wax coat the finish is soooo smmoooooth your applicator should just glide over the surface anyways. Wax, applied with a clean small round microfiber/foam pad.

Remove - By hand. Microfiber towels. Once filled, they go into the USED bucket to be washed later. Never use towel to remove more than one kind of product.

Polish/Buffing between poducts and final finish - Microfiber polishing pad. I'll use this on the whole car. Then if I'm laying down a 2nd or 3rd coat of polish or wax I'll still use it. There's nearly nothing left on the surface for it to pickup after I've taken off the product with the microfiber towels. They go in the USED bucket once I switch product.

Washing - Good quality wool mitt, or microfiber mitt. Wash top down. Once it gets used below the door ding trim, it doesn't get used above. I'll clean the wheel spokes with it, but not right inside. Thats what a wheel brush is for. It then goes in the USED bucket to be washed.

Frequently changing your cloths as they get debris on them, use cloths for ONE product only, and being carefull when washing will all contribute to a swirl free finish.

Don't ask me about removing swirls. I'm no expert. Someone else will chime in about that for sure!

If you have swirls, you will need to invest in an orbital polisher like the Porter-Cable 7424. Swirls are very hard to remove by hand (On Monday I tried to remove some myself, and on Tuesday I ordered an orbital polisher)!

 

Are those the ones that are hard to mess up the paint with? It would really suck to burn through your paint.

 

Yes from what I hear it is nearly impossible to burn the paint with a PC. Only a rotary is capable of burning paint.
