Is this 5 star shine "wax" for real?

Has anyone ever come across this product?
Does it really last that long?

I've had it on my car since I got it in May. I just rinse and dry. Still beads water and looks waxed. Washed last week with their pH nuetral soap since she got covered in mud due to flooding from Ivan storms. So yes it works, as perfect and great as they claim? almost. Bugs on my bumper still come off with some work.

Since I have hard water, water stains really bad if I don't dry every spec. I found with 5star, I can just go in the rain and wipe down my car with a microfiber towel. It immediately start beading and dries spotless and super shiny. A few times I have used Meguires Quik Detailer since there is so much pollen and dust where I live.

p.s. oh yeah, my sig if from using their soap last weekend. High reflection with no waxing or polishing. 4 months so far still mirror reflection when rinsed.

I can't remember how long they claim for the stuff to last, but to make a long story short, it is infomercial product without the infomercial.

You can't use PTFE (aka Teflon) in the way they describe. One major thing I hate about products like these is their Whiz-Bang style of marketing, and how they feel they have to befuddle you with their psuedo-science explainations of how it works, and how they use incredible testimonials to sell it too. IIRC, it is also very expensive to buy.

It may "last", but it cannot last forever, since mechanical wear is always a factor. Even if it would last a long time in a sealed room, it still gets worn away in the real world, and besides that, it is a good idea to re-detail your car every so often. This stuff is supposed to be tough, but solvents and environmental fallout will still eat through it so eventually you still get that rough, gritty feeling to the paint.

There are enough long-lasting products out there that cost less that you shouldn't bother with this product IMO.

Maxima80, I'm guessing you bought the deluxe kit, right ($97 on the website)? How many applications do you think you'll get out of it? And how would you compare it to products that you've used in the past?

BMan....you got me curious. Why can't you use teflon like they describe? And what are these other long-lasting products, and are any of them any good?

No I bought the simple kit for I think $60. It was an extra 10 and 5 off. I used code (10off). Since my car was new, I didn't need as much prep. Washed with regular car soap and rinsed. Then used step 1 polarizer and let sit. Rinsed/wiped off and dried. Then I applied and removed step 2 protector like wax. I was very tired. With your car 4 years old u may need the deluxe which has clay bar. Or buy a clay bar and their pH soap. And it's not teflon. They patened watever it is. Works better than other waxes I used on my old car. Did my wheels too and brake dust wipes off easily.

I got a bunch of their pH soap and the hose nozzle. I'd be washing every weekend, so to me it's worth it.

I do use Meguires detail once in a long while if it doesn't rain. Claim to last 5 years, less for older cars.

let us know how long that stuff lasts

Im tempted to get it as my next product if it does what it claims to do.... even if it only lasted at least 2 years and keeps that shine and protection, i think it would be worth it...its a PITA to be washing and waxing almost every month or so... it would save a hell of a lot of time.
