Use spray on wax on wheels?

Hello all,

I just bought polished hyperblack aftermarket rims and was wondering can I just use Eagle One's spray on wax on them instead of doing a true waxing on each and every rim? I would save so much time using just the spray on wax.

TIA

The problem with that is the heat generated from wheels. Many spray-on waxes are not designed to deal with that kind of heat along with brake dust and other environmental factors.

What I'd recommend is cleaning the rims and then protecting them with Meguiar's #20 sealant.

I would be careful about spraying wax on your rotors when you spray your wheels. Although it would burn off quickly, it might have a negative impact on braking right afterward.

If you want to wax your wheels, you need to look for a synthetic wax or sealant that has a high melting point. I've used NXT on my wheels and that seems to work quite well...the water stills beads after several weeks. I currently have Poorboy's EX-P and Pinnacle Paste Glaz on the wheels along with the rest of the car. They look great, and although the Paste Glaz (100% pure carnauba) has probably melted off, the EX-P remains and keeps the wheels shiny.
