Before and After pics of swirling removed
What Used:
Porter Cable 7424
3M PIII Machine Glaze w/ Yellow Cutting Foam Pad
Meguiars #9 w/ Meguiars Soft Buff Foam Pad
Before:

After:

These are with no wax, and the time put in was minimal. There are still some minor scratches in the paint to get out, but roughly 95% of the swirling is gone.
EXACTLY why everyone should invest into a porter cable, it works magic.
BTW, this is under a 500watt halogen light, so dont think the lighting hid the swirl marks, cause this light shows them all. And these scratches are permanently removed, not covered up.

I just recently got into an accident in my max, to make a long story short, the body shop I took it to did a poor job painting my car and left particles in the clearcoat which left the surface with those cone shaped sharp pieces in the paint. I pointed this out to them and they managed to get out the particles but I didn't notice until later they did an even worse job wet sanding them out and left serious deep swirl marks. It's really noticeable when sunlight is on it but hard to tell without UV light unless you look at an angle. I really don't have the time or respect for this body shop anymore. They advised me to give it a week for the paint to cure and they have a "special" wax that only body shops have for this type of thing, but to me that sounds like just a band aid for the paint.
My question is, being that the car (quarter panel/doors) were just painted, how long do you need to wait before using a PC on the paint with the products listed above to remove the swirls? I was informed that I'd have to wait 90 days before I could begin to wax the car. Is it the same time frame before I can fix the clearcoat?

I would wait a few months before attacking the paint with a PC, you need to let the clear coat fully cure. Otherwise, you might end up scratching it more if the clear coat is soft.
sweeeeeet
I love my PC too but I don't use it as often as I should ... my worst swirlled areas is the rear quarter panels and roof but by the end of the first week of Nov, that will be solved
(idiot hit my quarter panel and shop has to paint the damaged area and reclearcoat both quarter panels as well as roof because there's no break in between)

Thanks, it's a shame to have to drive around like that for a few months. With that said, can the chemicals used to fix clearcoat be used year round? By the time the cc cures it will be January and prob 20-30 degrees here.
[QUOTE=BlueC]Oh btw, tried out S100 wax today. Took a 30 min drive to the nearest Harley-Davidson dealership and paid the $15.
Very nice. I love S100. How did you apply it? I always apply it by hand, but recently got a PC and was wondering if I could use it for the S100.

I also use S100. I apply it by hand. It goes on so easily, I can't see where using my PC would be of any benefit. I do use the PC for polish and AIO application, though.

Mine looks better too...though it should, considering I now have 3 layers of EX-P and 2 layers of Paste Glaz on it! Old Man Winter, show me what you got!

Maybe it needs to dry longer? But i let it dry for awhile too.
I dont care, S100 is my favorite wax now. I got two layers on the front of my car, seems to be deeper in gloss the more layers that are put on.

I also just got some Megs #16 today. I just finished waxing my door jambs with that stuff. I'll still wax my car during the winter too. I thought about throwing a coat of #16 on before winter since it's supposed to be quite durable.
