best way to remove and touch up small rust spots on 02 max
I have a handfull of small rust spots on my 02 max. A few of them are on edges of the fenders/trunk (seems nissan did a poor job making paint stick to edges). My question is how should I remove the rust and touch up without making the imperfections exaggerated? I have heard of something called a rust removal pen? Does it work and WHERE can I buy it (I have looked at local bodyshops and parts stores).
1) Since the touch up paint DOES NOT MATCH I am thinking after finding a method to remove rust I will use touch up primer, touch up paint, sand, then touch up clear, sand, rubbing compund.
2) I do not want to use sandpaper on such small spots in fear of making spot look worst.
3) I know what I am doing when it comes to painting (I have painted many car parts with my paint gun and compressor and people have seen my work and asked if I would paint stuff for them) but I have not done too many touch up jobs and it seems every "kit" out there seems to do a really half a** job at making a uniform looking touch up.
After I gather info on products and find a successful method I will definately post a how-to so other people can actually make their paint look better and not worst. I am just VERY concerned at how to remove the small amounts of rust without causing undue damage to surrounding areas.
Please add suggestions to paint removal and/or successful touch up. BTW:My car color is "Merlot"
