Scratches under door handle

Guys I don't know how many of you have this but I bought my pearl maxima used and the guy had scratches galore under the door handles. I gave some rubbing compund a try and it got it right out. Just wanted to share.

Yeah, I get them there, too. Really pi$$es me off. I can't understand how, though. 99% of the time, I'm the only one that opens the driver's door, my fingernails are short and I try to grab the underside of the handle without touching the door.

I use Menzerna polish and they come out. I'm thinking of putting some clear 3M film under the handles, though.

Almost every car I have ever detailed (with the exception of new cars) has had these scratches. I don't know the explanation for them either, though. After you take car of them once with rubbing compound, using a one step cleaner/polish/wax in that area every time you wax your car will generally keep them from coming back. At least in my experience, anyway.
