gold trim wearing off

The gold trim on my 95 maxima is starting to wear off on my car, especially on the door handles, its half chrome half gold, and looks kind of funny. Is there any way to restore it or am i just doomed to losing the gold?

Once the gold is gone- It's gone. it's only a thin coating over the factory "chrome" I would sand em down and have them painted body color. Thats really your only option.
