Water Blade question
Water Blade question
I noticed that quite a few people love their California Water Blade. I purchased one the other day and it didn't work anywhere near what I expected. The blade was "squeling" and I wasn't comfortable using it on baby girl. I tossed it back in the trunk after 2 minutes of use. Did I give up too soon or should I give it away to someone I don't like? (smile)
I've used it before but after a few bad incidences with it I'd rather not. If you're not SUPER careful about keeping dirt off of it, it can produce some pretty nice scratches. Personally i rinse it every 2 or 3 swipes, but i still see some fine scratches when im done. Maybe they were already there and I'm just paranoid.
Either way, from now on I think I'll just use THE ABSORBER exclusively.

It works great for me. Do you have the original California Water Blade? There are some knock-offs too. They may not be as good.
Yes, you need to keep the blade clean to avoid scratches. I will rinse mine before using and a couple times during. I haven't had a problem with scratches.

I use mine every time I wash my car, but I don't use it on dark-colored cars that I'm detailing. I want to be extra careful when it comes to a customer's paint. If I put a fine scratch into my white paint, you wouldn't be able to see it anyway.
And you usually get squealing from several things:
1. the blade wasn't wet enough.
2. the area you're trying to wipe with the blade is too dry.
3. You're holding the blade at too steep of an angle.
