6th Gen: Removing scratches from chrome trim?

It's quite clear for me how to get rid of the scratches or swirl marks on the paint, but what about scratches on a chrome-colored accents (grille with Nissan logo and the roof moldings)?

Is it safe to polish the silver/chrome trim using the same method & product I will be using for the paint (PC + Meg's 80 or 83) or should I use something else?

EDIT: also, should I do them separately (paint first and then the trim) or it doesn't matter?

Mike
