Sticker Removal

I have Anti-Theft System stickers on my front 2 side windows. I think they look tacky and I want them off. How can I get those off without leaving a mark behind? What should I use to get rid of any residue left over on the glass?

On a side note...I have numbers etched into all of my windows. What are they for?

I've used a single edged razor blade on the outside of the windows without any scratching. You could probably do that on the inside too, if you don't have tint.

Goo Gone for the residue.

Those numbers are your VIN. Its an anti-theft measure that basically tattoos your car. If it ever gets stolen, its easier to track, and makes it more difficult for *******s... I mean, theives to profit from ripping off your car.

You might also get a break on insurance too.

Uhhh...def. not my VIN #. I've checked. It's a shorter number, much different from my VIN. I don't think I get a break on insurance, either

Make sure your insurance company nows about those numbers....they're an anti theft measure and should get a discount.

As long as your windows aren't tinted then do as Bluesbrekr says and scrape off with a razor blade then spray a window cleaner on (I've only done this with the foaming type...don't know if that's a requirement) and scrape the residue off with the razor.

WARNING!! Make sure you use a new razor blade this is very important. A new blade will not scratch your glass.

If all else fails, I've found "un-du ADHESIVE REMOVER" does wonders for removing stickers, labels, parking permits etc from glass windows. I don't know if it's safe for use on window tint film so beware. There shouldn't be anything applied to tint anyways so you should be ok. If you wait till the glass is nice and hot on a summer day, it makes the removal process a bit easier since it heats up the adhesive that you're trying to remove. You could probably find this "un-du" stuff at a local office supply store or a neighborhood drug store. Also, I've used mild steel wool along with the "un-du" solution for tough jobs and got good results. Don't touch the steel wool to the paint...only glass! Good luck.

Goo_Gone used to work but i no longer have any luck with it when cleaning old stickers.
Razor blade seems to be the best solution but you must be very careful

Use a hairdryer on it also. The heat makes the adhesive become sticky and is alot easier to remove. I removed some stickers from my bumper on ym old car and you can't even tell that there was anything there.
