Some Rust....Nissan Warranty?

Hey guys, I have a 2003 SE with almost 78k miles on it and I am starting to see some rust near the back doors by the wheel wells. (sorry no pics) I heard somewhere on this board (cant find the thread) that nissan has a 5 year unlimited miles rust warranty, but I cant find any information about it. Do any of you guys have any experience with this? I want to get it taken care of before the nice Upstate NY winter comes round again.

Also another question: I have a few door dings, a paint chip or two on the hood/front bumper and some dents on my back bumper, my car has had a rough life..Given the Max's miles, would you guys reccomend getting all this touched up/re-painted? Is it worth it? I definetly want to get the rust taken care of, thats top priority. I dont have the most money to spend, but I want my car to look great, even if it has a ton of miles on it.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

The warranty on rust proofing cover you if you have rust coming through. If I remember it doesn't cover if the rust happened by way of stone chips and other things that come in contact with the paint. Silver01gle might be covered becaase it appears his is coming from under the paint. I try to look my car over everytime after I wash it. If you see any chips or deep scrathes you need to get to it quickly before it gets rusted. As far as the warranty for 5 years unlimited mileage is true indeed. The 04 maximas come with it I'm not sure about the fifth gen's. Hope this helps a little. Always try to touch up whenever you see nicks in the paint.

Do you just go to a nissan dealership to inquire ??? There's no scratch's where these 2 bubbles are forming, the paint is bubbled and the rust is starting to come through...

=0(

its a 2001 ... jeez !

In your situation I would go to the dealer and check it out. It sounds like it could fall under the warranty. The main factor is that you said it's coming through paint. Whatever you do don't peel the paint before you take it to dealer. You know most dealers look for any excuse not to honor your warranty.

Yeah the dealer is a joke ... I'm the 2nd owner on this car, will that matter at all ???

also what part of the warranty does this fall under so I can sound like I know what I'm talking about =0)

This would fall under the corrosion section of the warranty. The warranty is void if the car was involved in an accident. The warranty is usually transferrable if you don't fall under those conditions. The one thing I would reccommend is calling costumer care to see is they were offering the 5 year unlimited mileage anti-corrosion thing. I hope they do and I hope you get taken care of. If you do do me one favor stick it to them real good. I'm sorry I'm just bitter about my warped rotors on my car with 24k miles. I would love to see someone get some thing out of those (well you know). If all goes send me a pm. Good luck. I will try calling my self if I get sometime and post it to you.
