Wax Windows?

I was just at an auto parts store and asked how to get rid of water spots. My car has been out the last few nights and gotten water from the sprinkler system on it. Wax worked on the body. I told the above to the guy and he said I could wax the windows. I've never heard of this. Anyone have any comments?

I wouldn't do the windshield to avoid streaks when using the wipers, but the rest of the windows should be fine. I've also heard of vinegar for water spots, so you could use that on the windshield.

Also, unless it's just the rubbing you're doing, it's not the wax, but the cleaners that are getting the water spots off, so not all waxes will work...just the one step/cleaner-waxes (probably most that you find at autozone et al though).

I've had some pretty nasty water spots on my windows before and used steel wool 0000 grade (ultra fine?) with soapy water as lubricant. It really polishes your windows totally smooth. I've also clayed my windows with good success, although it's not quite as effective as the wool but probably a bit safer in reducing the chance of an errant scratch.

Yup like he said, #0000 steel wool and window cleaner. You can also polish them with a light polish. Wax wont remove the water spots.

Keep the wax away from the fron t window or it will streak like crazy in the rain. If you want to get rid of the water spots instead of hiding them get your hands on some Zaino Glass Polish, the stuff works wonders!

Good Luck!

i wax my windows all the time. works great. it's better than rain-x, especially on your windshield because rain-x leaves a crystal layer when it drys which is what beads the water off, but the crystal layer is what ruins wiper blades. wax doesn't do that.

I use wax on my windows and they come out great. Sometimes I use cleaner wax to get rid of stubborn water spots. One thing that you have to be careful of with wax and that is if you try to clean your windows with window cleaner with wax on it they smear like crazy. I just wax the outside windows and clean rhe inside with non ammonia glass cleaner becauseI ahve tinted windows.

I wax my windshield and water flies off it like crazy...no streaking either as mentioned above...so long as you buff it out just like you do your paint there is no residue left to cause the streaking

What wax do you use on it? What about klasse sealant glaze?
