pics of both maximas after 1st use w/PC

I finally finished up both maximas and got my pics up. I did the following on both cars.
1. Wash
2. Clay bar treatment (Blackfire Polyclay)
3. Wash
4. Menzerna Intensive Polish using PC with Hi-Gloss Orange Power Pad
5. Menzerna Final Polish II using PC with Hi-Gloss White Polishing Pad
6. Klasse AIO using PC with Hi-Gloss White Polishing Pad
7. 3 coats of Klasse SG applied by hand. Each coat allowed to set for 24 hours before buffing
8. Pinnacle Souveran applied by hand

This was the first time I had ever used my new PC and the first time I had ever clayed a car. So I thought I would start on my 94SE first.
I was more impressed with the way my 94SE came out. The paint was pretty bad to begin with, but the above steps really helped an 11 year old factory paint job look decent. Most people would say it is a waste of time to do all that on my car. Considering it is rusting in the rear door jams/rocker panel and has numerous door dings and hail damage from the sunroof back. But the car still looks good from a distance after being cleaned up, but you can still see lots of imperfections up close.

Next I did my 02SE which I've only owned for a little over 2 months. There are numerous rock chips spread out all over the hood and it also has some very deep swirls. I actually polished it twice with the Menzerna IP and twice with the FP II. I had the PC set between 5 and 6 but the deep swirls are still there. I think this winter or maybe next spring I will be getting the hood repainted and installing a 3m clear bra. The rest of the car came out alright. I thought some of the scratches in the car would come out better. Also you can still notice swirls in the paint in direct sunlight. But maybe I'm not using the PC to its full potential.

I have to say that when I applied the Souveran I didn't notice much more shine or gloss. But I was still impressed with all the products I used.

The pics of my 02SE were taken on a cloudy day so it didn't look that shiny. But I had to take them as soon as I finished the car because I was driving the car out of town (It ended up raining on the 2 hour drive). The pictures of the hood didn't really turn out very well either.

hood and top of door panel too, but my guess would have been paint chips. guess I know less about paint than your average bear.

The marks on the spolier on the 94SE are actually little cracks caused by the hail damage that I mentioned. The car got hailed on a about 5 years ago and my parents garage was full, so I was only able to get from the sunroof forward in the garage and from the sunroof back got hailed on. I could probably just replace the spolier, but there is alot of things the exterior of that car needs, and I don't know if I want to put the money into it.

I worked and worked on those spots on the roof, hood and trunk lid. Some of them look to me like tiny paint chips and others looked like the paint was etched real deep. Like I said the car has an 11 year old factory paint job and wasn't garaged for 6 years that I owned it.

Both look very good. The process and products you used is exactly the way I do mine.

Yeah I originally saw your website and you talked about the PC. That was the first place I had heard about it. I saw your car and the way it turned out and was very impressed. I guess I owe you a thanks for turning me on to the PC and the products. Your car still looks far better then mine!

Thanks tool. Sharing knowledge is what it's all about. I have to get started on a complete detail soon....before the winter weather arrives.

I'm not really sure if this has been said, but there is some debate on Klasse SG application. Autopia.org, which is a site I really suggest you visit (detailing website), suggests a Wipe On wipe off application process.. I cant even imagine how hard that SG was to buff off if you waited 24 hours to do it...
edit: Maybe you were confused - 24 hours between each coat, not between application and buffing.

I let the Klasse SG dry on the car for a full 24 hours before buffing it off. I found it can be a little difficult to buff of, but for the most part it comes of fairly easy. I found if I would mist the area with water from a spray bottle it helped remove any stubborn residue.
Actually the directions I got with the Klasse SG (Ordered from properautocare.com) say "The longer you let SG dry (even overnight) the easier it is to remove."

I think the idea behind letting the SG cure for long periods is to let it bond to the paint/surface more. I've seen where it has been argued on this forum before about how long to let it cure or that there is no cure time required at all.
It is probably fine to apply SG and immediately take it off, but I think you would get better and longer lasting protection if it is allowed to cure longer. That's just my opinion.

I actually just got a PC myself. I also ordered some Menzerna Final Polish II, Finishing Touch Glaze, and FMJ. All the products worked really well. The FMJ went on really easy and came off even easier. It gives a really slick and glass like finish.
