Meguiars Gold Class or Mothers Carnuba

I was at the auto parts store today and couldn't decide between Meguiars Gold Class or the Mothers Carnauba. Is the Meguiars also a carnauba wax? It didn't say so anywhere on the box and I thought carnauba wax was supposed to last a lot longer. The Mothers was the cleaner wax, that's the only one they carry. Is that any good? Prices were pretty close.

Both are cleaner waxes, it doesnt matter which one you pick, its personal preference.

Mothers also has a wax that is not a cleaner

Carnauba's don't last as long as synthetics. Both megs and mothers are good brands. As far as OTC products you might want to look at NXT...I've heard good things about it and it should last longer than either you mentioned.

See now all other reviews I've read on NXT say that the downside is that it doesn't last very long.

Compared to other sealants you are correct, but the two you mentioned probably have even worse longevity. I haven't tried any of these products, so I have no first hand knowledge.

3 weeks 4 if you're pushing it. I've used both. I notice that the Megs produce more of a mirror gloss.

So what would be the best wax for longevity? I want something that will hopefully get me through the winter.

to get yourself through the winter you'll probably need to order online. Klasse SG should last 4-6 months, but it's a b!tch to work with. I just order some acryllic jett from http://www.jeffswerkstatt.com/products.php. It's supposed to last like SG, but not be a PITA to take off. I can't wait to try it. I'll probably put 3 layers or so on (waiting at least 24 hrs in between) before winter starts. I'll be using klasse AIO underneath to make sure it has a nice clean surface to bond to, but if you don't already have that like I do you should get some prime from that site.

Like I said something like NXT is probably your best bet if you want to stick with OTC. Collinite 845 is pretty good too, especially considering it's not synthetic. Maybe as much as 3-4 months. I've heard of it being available at advance auto, but the one near me didn't carry it. I found a place by calling the collinite distributer for my area and ended up learning about an awesome place...my new favorite store . Here's collinites website http://www.collinite.com/. Their distributor section doesn't seem to be working now though.

I don't think it's universal. Everybody was saying they had it when I checked, but the one by me had never heard of it. Worth checking though.
