Pre-winter detail complete

Got the Max ready for the Wisconsin snow, slush and salt. My process was:

Wash with Meg's Gold Class
Clayed with TOL clay
Polished with SSR2 on green Propel pad
AIO on black pad
2 layers of UPP on black pad.

Still need to top it with Souveran....

Here's the results:

Here's 2 of the hood reflection:

...and one more

The TOL clay bar worked well. In the past I've used Clay Magic and either Meg's or Mother's (I can't remember which). I really don't have a 'favorite'. For me, they all seemed to work the same. I know there are different grades of clay bars, too....some are more aggressive than others, but I think that's noted on the packaging.

Looking good! It's always a good idea to do a good job on prepping the car for the winter up in the northern states.

I prepped my car a couple weeks back, but since its still somewhat warm out, I suppose I should throw on another layer or two of the Collinite 845.

You would've cried if you had seen what happened to my car about three weeks ago. I came out to the parking lot only to find that it had been dive bombed by literally 200 birds...the ENTIRE car was covered. I had my windows slightly cracked and some of it even got inside the car. The car had been baking in 90 degree sun all day while I was inside so needless to say the paint was trashed. I am going to have to redo the entire Menzerna process I did a couple months ago over the entire car.....and I still don't have a PC yet, it sucks.

Anyway, we can get hit pretty hard here with cold weather as well (relatively speaking). There are many nights where we are between 0-10F and we get the occasional snow/ice storm....so winter prep is necessary and I am going to start section 1 tonight.

Any pics, Lance? J/K...that $ucks. I feel for ya. You gotta get a PC. Doing all that by hand again would be a huge job. Good luck.

gto400no1 - thanks. Black sure does look good after a detail. BTW, love the Evo's. They're still my favorite wheel on a 4th gen.

Excellent work, but Souveran does not last very long. You should consider using a wax like Collinite 845. Doesn't shine as good as Souver. but last much longer.

Patrick - IMO undercoating is not necessary, even in northern climates.

NABU6 - The UPP is pretty durable and should last till spring. I top it with Souveran primarily for looks. It will probably last a month or so and then I'll rely on the UPP underneath.

Looks amazing Tom! Your Maxima is one of the cleanest (both physically clean as well as cleanest modified) Maxima's I have ever seen! Excellent job, keep it up!

Yes it is. Although I haven't modded the interior too much, it's clean and well taken care of....

Nice.. My interior is cloth and i bought a steam cleaner for the seats, I used tuff stuff on a mark and it almost ate away my seat. I haven't done any mods to the interior. What do you use on your engine bay?
