be a little more specific. are you talking about the body? all exterior?

washing, i use the Meguiar's pink stuff, i think.

Drying: shammy and finish it off with microfiber towels.

Wiping: ... uh, see above

Waxing: Meguiar's 3-step finished off with Meguiar's new one (can't remember the name. in the blue and green box. NXT or something like that?)

oh, and of course clay after the wash and dry.

washing> Meguiar's
drying> microfiber towel
wiping> ?????? wiping what?

cleaning my wheels I use simple green.
for waxing I use the Meguiars three step minus the third step, and I use the new NXT tech wax as well. and I also use the Meguiars clay bar before I wax.

I use Eagle One tire shine on my tires.
and Simple Green on my engine.......

.....wiping: See above. Once a month I do the Zymol Cleaner Wax w/ reg towel follow by microfiber

.....cleaning aluminum, chrome, alloy: I just wash and wipe down. Haven't found the right wheel cleaner yet. Maybe Eagle One mag cleaner. I do use the Eagle One tire foam.

.....washing
QEW with Chenille Pads

.....drying
WW MF towels

.....wiping (for QDing)
Plush MF towels

.....cleaning aluminum, chrome, alloy
Wheel Cleaner: QEW to clean and Klasse SG to protect, but my wheels get cleaned every week, I find it makes a black car look cleaner if at least the wheels are clean. I have some EO wheel cleaner but I never need to use anything that strong.
Polish: Mother's AL wheel, see above I've used it on my headlights more than my wheels
Chrome: KSG

For quick detailing, use Meguriar's Nxt Generation Speed Detailer, it's quick and easy...good results too!

no, I don't anyway, it would be a waste as far as I'm concerned, most waxes will last 2 - 3 months, prolly longer. I usually wax every 3 months. I'm sure there are some that wax more often, and some that wax alot less than that. I wash my car usually twice a week...

yes, that is probably alot, but for one, I use my max as a daily driver. I drive 70 miles roundtrip to work, also, I work at a chemical plant and my car always has a film when I get out to my car, I'm not sure what it is......(prolly don't want to know, lol) but its not dangerous, and I don't think it is hurting my paint. But I am a little scared anyway, so I keep a good wax on my car and keep it washed as much as possible. I'd say once a week would be fine for washing. And another thing is the climate you live in. I would think people up north prolly need to wash theirs more frequent with all the salt they put on the roads up there. just my opinion though...

what do you guys use to clean the LCD on a 6th gen. mine is getting a little dirty and i wanted to know what's good to use

i was thinking that those LCD whipes are good enough but if they are not, please set the record straight for me

also, I'm looking to clean my gauges as the glass on them have some spots, does anyone know if windex is good enough or should i use something else?

thanks

.....drying - Absorber from Wal-Mart. Not glamorous, but works awesome.
.....wiping - Microfiber from autogeek.

.....cleaning aluminum, chrome, alloy - Mothers polish.

All my fav's and why are here: http://www.innerbean.com/housecor/detailing.html

Wow
that's a pretty awesome list man. Just the type of details i was looking for. The only thing i'd like to know about now is the LCD on a 6th gen. What is everyone using to clean that?

oh....another thing.....one do you use to clean aluminum and chrome from the mother's products

do you use the separate one for each type of metal or do you use one type of mother's pollish for all of them?

Be carefull about using simple green, it has been found to eat away at plastic & rubber without diluting.

Just a tip!

what's simple green?
is that a type of acid that needs to be diluted?
what is it primarily used to clean?

Not to sound ungreatful after a very thorough list md but the thing i really need to clean right now is my LCD

i went to that plexus sight and they don't mention that plexus is good at cleaning those type of screens? have you personally tried and used it?

I don't have nav, I drive from home to work and back again, groundhog day if you know what I mean. So no, I haven't tried it, I did a search and this is what I found, I know that Plexus is a great product for other plastics so it makes sense. You might try a soft Microfiber towel that is slightly damp, that would be the least aggressive approach, if you don't want to try the plexus.

BTW, I don't use Simple Green for anything anymore, I've heard too many bad things.

i was just wanting to see what everyone was using

oh and for those that were curious
i finally used windex on my gauges and the screen on my 6th gen
the gauges were fine

the funny thing about the display was that it was fine too. it's not really an LCD per se, but it looks like one because of all the glare coming from the screen behind it. it's really glass and using windex for it will be fine.

I use Plexus only on my LCD. Works great with a microfiber towel. It needs to be redone about every 2 weeks. The can should last the life of your car if you don't use it for anything else. I usually hit my headlights and tail lights at the same time. Make's em real shiney.
