How much for a paint job?

I'm thinking about getting my 2001 SE a paint job this summer. Right now its Sterling Silver and it has a lot of rock chips on the front bumper and sides from highway driving. I saw a "sheer silver" maxima somewhere on this site and I think thats the color I want.

So 2 questions.....

what is a reasonable price for a quality paint job?

And what color would you choose?

well i got an estimate not too long ago for full paint job (same color) with some ding and dent repairs included under 4 Gs ... If youre just doing a paint job it "should" be way less than that depending on the quality or work you would like and ALSO the shops rate per hour (some shops vary in rates per hour depedning on what time of year and how busy they might be) ... hope this helps some. i assuming it would be a bit extra to paint your car a different color than stock.

I heard if you prime your car yourself the paint job is -500 cheaper..If your trying to save money and have free time, go about doing that.

They will have to sand the car down at several points. First, they have to sand off the old paint. Second, there may be sanding involved when body filler is used. Third, there may be some sanding involved at the primer level. Fourth, there is wetsanding of the paint and probably the clear.

i got a 3 thousand dollar paint job done for 400... did it myself and it looks better than any shop would have done for 3000... but if your not experienced or dont wanna put the time in, then yeah it's gonna be expensive if you want the job done right.
