Removing Old Tint

I know you can do this with Amonia and Water Solution by taping off the window with black plastic and letting it heat up on a hot day. Anyone know the correct mixture of Amonia and Water?

For my door windows, I just took a razor to it with some soapy water so there was less friction with blade-->window and did so without a scratch. The rear window I will have to try this on (no stress though because the defrosters already don't work =P )

Make sure to use this kind:

Take your time. You are going to need probably 5 blades (break out a new one when it starts to get glue stuck on the end), some Windex WITH amonia, and soapy water to lubricate.

Spray the windex on and let it soak in. Then, carefully take the blade and try to peal off in big strips. When using the blade, make single, long strokes, while using the soapy water on the window when there is no tint on it to put some lubrication between the blade and window. Obviously keep the blade at a very short angle (|/ as compared to _|) and take your time.

This is the process I used for my MR2.

I used a razor blade to "pick" at an edge at the corner of the window and work the blade in a slow an smooth motion to get enough of a finger under the film. Now remember, the tint on this car is from 93 so its old and left all the glue behind. As I pulled the tint off, I keep steady pressure and started adding fingers as I pulled the tint. I was able to get most off in a large sheet and then use the razor blade to get the remaining scraps off. I did all window except the rear because of the defroster line.

As for removing the glue, I used a can of Oops! (got it at Home Depot) and a bunch of rags. I had the door panels off, so I was not worried about ruining the interior. In all it took me about 2-3 hours to remove the tint. Key is to be patient and keep the glue "soft" with whatever liquid you use to remove it with. I found the razor and liquid to "goopy" of a mess to contend with which is why I did it the way I did.

well... i've done the harder way....
1 bottle of windex + 1/2 roll of paper tower.... and 3 hour job for 2 windows><

i went into canadian tire, grab the only windex(orange one)
after i got a window done, and read the lable....(small character ==> Amonia free)=.=...
