how to clean my headlights?

The other day I was looking at the great picture thread and I noticed that almost everybody's headlights were perfectly clean. Then when I looked at my headlights on my Max, I noticed that they were foggy and every time I would clean them, then would still have that foggy look to them. By now I am guessing that it is something inside the headlights. But I don't know how I can clean them. Can anybody please help?

Thanks

Couple weeks ago, I washed my car. I used a green scrubber (sorry, not sure if it is the right term. Those are green hard plastic scrubber we used for cookware cleaning), and a toothpaste. It came out pretty good. I was able to remove a layer of haze from the headlight.

Megs Plastix. Get it anywhere. Use a buffer or mothers powerball on a drill.

I would fear that combination would be too abrasive.

3m

The headlights on my car were yellow and looked old and nasty when I bought the car. I tried everything to clean them but nothing worked. I had basically resigned to buying new ones. Before I did though, a friend of mine who does body work told me I should try using 3M super duty rubbing compound. I was absolutely amazed with the results. You won't need other tools either, except a soft cloth to apply it.
