Give me some tips on touch up paint plz!

So a couple months ago my friends' and my car all got shot with a BB gun on the left side rear quarter panel. The BB chipped the paint all the way to either primer or metal since the spot is dull gray. I already ordered some Nissan OEM touch up paint and have been reading up on the best way to apply it. From my searches, I've found that I should apply the paint in tiny amounts via a tooth pick. First wash the area with Dawn or w/e to remove all wax, paint, then wait a month to dry. But how many coats should I apply with the tooth pick? And can I just wait a week or so and buff the area with polish to blend it in better? Thanks for the help and would love additional tips!

I used the touch up paint offered my Nissan and I found it to work only moderatly. My car wasnt as severe as yours, someone had grinded against my rear bumber while pulling in/out of a parallel parking space. anywyas, i used a toothpick to start then realized how tedious and little it was working, i then switched to dabbing the affected area with the tip of the brush they give you. The paint is like oil, very difficuly to stick. I would say apply it in sunlight so it dries faster, but reapply again again and again until your satisifed.

remember though that you need to make sure no water can get into the crack between the metal and the paint or you'll have much bigger problems. my adivce is to get an opinion from an auto body shop too. good luck!!

I am using a product called Langka along with the touch up paint. It works pretty good, but is a little tedious (I use basically for larger dhips). Basically, with a clean car, apply touch up until you fill the damaged area ( possibly several coats) until you build a blob. After an hour or so (follow directions), you use the card supplied with the Langka covered with cloth to remove the blob. Works pretty well. Check it out.

someone shot my SE-R with a BB gun right by the rear tail light.. left a dime sized dent. Its my AutoX car so I have no plans of fixing it right...but I gave it a coat of touch up paint every few days for a while until it covered it nice..all the paint was gone, it was just a metal hole in my car. I used touch up paint from the dealership...that was over a year ago and its still holding fine. Probaboly had 10 coats of it on the fill it up as much as possible

I put on the first coat over the weekend, and it def did not fill up the hole. I was thinking of rubbing the area with ScratchX after multiple coats to fill it up and drying, to blend it in? Good idea?
