Extremely Hard Grease and Dirt?

Hey all. I just recently got my car, about 6 months ago, and I just started driving it when I turned 16 in Sept. Anyway, I am looking to really give the engine bay and some other spots a nice scrub down. I have already done some of it, but there are parts that are really hard to get clean. I can guarrantee this is no more than its 2nd deep cleaning. So, the grease is really tough. I have done a lot of work but I want to get this looking nice. So what would really take off that 4+/- year old grease and dirt?

Ill throw this out there, but have you tried engine degreaser?

Clean Engine bay =
-Tooth Brush
-Degreaser
-Lots of water.
