Which tire shine lasts the longest?

Let me preface this by saying that I apologize if this topic has been , but I do not frequent the detailing forums... I also did a search and all the thread links I clicked on did not work... so please no flaming!!

I use armourall and the shine lasts probably a few days. I heard Meguires lasts for about a week. Any one else have experience or preferences? Which ones work the best at resisting brake dust AND staying shiny for the longest?

just make sure you spread it on evenly, cause i didnt spread it evenly and it was blotchy in some areas, and as soon as i went to drive it flung off on the car
and talk about a pain getting it off

in my experience, the key to getting the most out of tireshine is to not drive the car for a couple hours/overnight after applying it. A ton of my family and friends will spray the stuff, then go drive around right away. then they wonder why it won't last.

I always spray mine after dark or in the evening when i know i won't be driving it til morning. Weather permitting, i'll notice the shine (albeit diminished over time) for a couple weeks after application.

As for products, you definitely get what you pay for. I'm using nxt insane tire shine and i love the stuff.

hth.

in my opinion, none of this $hit lasts very long. but for some reason the foam seems to last longer if you let it bake on on a hot day. what you do is apply it, and wait a day or 2 and wipe off excess and then re-apply it again for a really hard shine. my tires seem to stay shiny for at least 5 to 7 days. i believe maguires makes the foam too.

ArmorAll Extreme Tire Shine Gel works pretty good for me.

Meguiares used to make a gel that I used religiously and I can't find it anymore.

That stuff would last me over a week, through rain and additional washing.

I have not used the ArmorAll stuff long enough yet to know if it is as good as the Meguiares but it seems ANY gel works better than spray and foams.

I like the gel too. I use the Meguiare's Gold Class Endurance High Gloss gel and it lasts for a good amount of time. Also, you don't have to worry about getting it all over your paint and wheels like with the spray applications

Do the gel products sling onto the car like the spray application products?

Yes it will if you put too much and don't spread it evenly. Use one of those sponges contoured to the shape of the tire and let it dry for a while before driving.

I have been using this stuff that i found at a Car show, it stays on for 2 WEEKS!!, no mess, no sling, and even if it rains and your tires get wet, they still look shiny and black. I've been using it for about 2 years now, and my tires have never gone brown or dull... http://www.supershinedetail.com/lookswet.html

I've had good luck with Dupoint Teflon Tireshine, spray on and walk away. It dries and looks good.

I refuse to just spray on a tire shine oil spray. It gets blotcy and will end up slinging off, regardless of how careful you are. Get a cheap $1 sponge from Walmart or something and spray the spray onto that, do circular motions around the tire pushing your index finger in to get the inner most area next to the rim without getting your rim oily. If you notice too much in one area or too much build up, flip the sponge over and wipe it down with the clean side. I find after a few uses with the sponge, it gets saturated enough to where you can do "touch ups" and not even need to spray. Works well and lasts at least a week with My generic tire shine...

I use the meguirs on my wheels and believe it works the best its the spray on kind and not the foam. But definitly what alot of other people are saying after you put it on let it sit for awhile

I use Hot Shine gel. Works great, but smells weird...like cough syrup...not like Meguairs there.

Anyhow, it works great, I always detail on Fridays, and most of the time, it isn't driven until Tuesday, so it gets a lot of sit time.

nope, dupont sucks. it stays on for like a week but there's barely any shine. i'm still waiting on the tire shine stuff that reaudog told me about. you have to buy 4 cans at once and its 30.00 for the stuff with shipping.

I too used this product on my tires. I love this stuff!! beats any product on the shelves at autozone or kragen. The stuff lasts for atleast 2 weeks, and doesnt fling off like other products. The only prob. i have is I cant find it at any other place but the car shows. i purchased mine at the LA autoshow. Good thing is that the show is this month, cant wait to buy more! I'll never go back to meguiars, armorall, or eagle one, these products are horrible.

If you can find it (Big Lots is the only place I have seen it lately), the Nascar Ultra Shine Tire Finish is really good and lasts a couple of weeks. $3 for 23 oz at Big Lots too.

I get about 10-11 days from Mequiars if it doesn't rain or I don't wash it.

I just spray paint my tires with jet black automotive paint.

lol...I try whatever is on sale, I evaluate it, and then move on to the next brand.
Most sprays last for a week, but maintain some type of result well into 3 weeks. I've always had slinging onto the rim or exterior even after using a sponge. This time I will let it sit overnight..that's good advice.

i went down to the car wash around the corner from where i live (cause i live in an apartment) and i gave my maxima the works, and since i had an extra dollar to waste i bought this armor all sponge, and since the dash was still clean, i used it on my tires, its been a week and it still looks wet. just not as good as it was day one. i've got it right here, its the armor all original protectant sponge. worked for me, should work for everyone else.

How do you guys go about storing these pads? To me they just get messy and a hassel.

I like to use the spray on like meguire hot shine and adjust the nozzel so I can get a nice control spray with it. It last about a week for me.
