Try a clay bar. If that doesn't work, believe it or not the meguiars scratch X works decent on them as well. If it doesn't get rid of them 100% (which depending upon how long they've been there) you might need to use a light compound or polish.

Compound is a little harsh for that. Clay bar, get a cleaner wax or paint cleaner, maybe a polish (only if they're still there), then wax. PM goathead.

Last resort would be compound. Try it in this order: Clay bar, scratch x, cleaner wax, polish, light compound.

Yeah man he does good work. But yeah the stuff I got is good ****. Meguiar's is the best. It was about 40 something all together at AutoZone. It doesn't matter whether it's hot or cold, as long as there's shade. There needs to be shade.

When I wash the car in the winter I just fill the bucket with warm tap water, not hot, but warm so at least you don't freeze your hand. One recommendation, don't wash it if you know the overnight temp will be in the teens. I've had my doors freeze shut before from doing that. Actually tore the weather stripping off the door, not cool. Right now though, this time of year, all set.

Good tip that same thing happened to me once. Luckily my weather stripping was still intact afterwards.

I would have pix on that thread I posted, but I haven't started detailing yet. I will on Friday. As for soap Meguiars also has a car wash soap, but I forgot the name of it. When you go to buy the other supplies it should be in that area.

If you guys want a quick and easy way to get rid of those spots when you wash your car try using the Armor all ultra shine car wash along with the turtle wax express shine. I use these two products to wash my ride and the results are amazing.

No, not yet. One other thing you can try quick is 1/2 vinegar and 1/2 water to see if it's just spotting or etched. If that still doesn't do it, try a cleaner wax or polish. Light compound = last resort.

Lately I've noticed some areas on the roof where the paint seems to be fading. Any products that can remove that?

Anyone got any products that can get stains out of carpet? There's this rust colored stain on the passenger side floor board that refuses to come out.

It is synthetic clay! Looks like stretchy plastercine or play dough.

You spray a lubricant on the paint (water + quick detailer or soap) and rub the claybar over the paint. Because it is soft and pliable it doesn't scratch the paint. Because it has a high frictional component it grabs any dirt, tar, sap, overspray... and pulls it off the paint. When it gets dirty you just pull and fold it a couple of times and you get a new clean side to play with.

It is a good product to use whenever you can hear your fingers slide across the surface of your paint. We also use it before doing any serious polishing or compounding as it removes any potentially gritty substances that could cut swirls into the paint with the polishers.

Yes, but they are best used with power polishers. You may want to take it to a detailing shop for their opinion, but it sounds like the clear coat has oxidized which involves one or more of the following steps: prep, painting, sanding, compounding, polishing and waxing. If you want to try yourself, start with the list backwards - try a cleaner wax or hiding synthetic like Turtle Wax Ice. If that didn't work try a polish, but you probably won't great great results by hand.

If you still want to go further do some internet research and get a dual action sander/polisher. Be careful!!! you could end up like me that spent hundreds of $$$ on crap equipment only to end up replacing it with proper stuff down the road. It may be cheaper to pay a pro to do it for you if the problem can't be fixed with polish or cleaner wax.
