Safe to use Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on the car?
Hm they have a set of these erasers that are specific for your wheels and tires (which work great), but you think normal 1s can be used on the car? I searched and I don't think it has been discussed on here. I think it should work, but I'm afraid to try it. Don't wanna **** up my paint or anything. Detailing wizards chime in.

Well I'm not a detailing wizard, but I have used the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on my car. I had a sort of scuff mark (where I parallel park, someone had a mailbox a wee bit too close to where the spot is, so that mailbox became slanted eventually ) on my rear bumper. Nothing would take it off (never did try claybaring though) but that magic eraser sure enough got rid of it.

you MUST finish it up a good conditioner to feed it or else don't even start it.

Hm give the leather a good cleaning with soap and water. Use the eraser. Finish off with Lexol leather conditioner.

Yeah I figured. I was gonna try it on some old junk parts and see. There's a special pack just for wheels/tires. Here are some before and after pix of 1 of my rims on my '96.

Not perfect, but a lot better.

I have used the magic eraser on leather, and as long as the leather is thick, you can get away with using it once on a tough spot. DO NOT clean all your leather with this thing, as it is abrasive and can wear through thin leather quick. I've had this happen when using it on a 4th gen leather steering wheel. Best best bet for tough stains is first just soapy water with a microfiber towel, followed by leather cleaner if that doesn't do it. If both don't get it, then you can spot treat with the magic eraser.
It has been said, but should be reiterated, that you should never use it on paint. That's what real polish or clay bar is for. Chris seems to have good results using it on a nasty wheel, but the same results could be had with good wheel cleaner (I really like the P21S gel wheel cleaner), clay bar, and maybe a metal polish on certain types of finishes. Sure, the eraser might work, but it might also remove clear coat or mar the finish.
