How do I clean my rims?

These are some pics of my rims:

And:

Anyone know what this is on my rims? It seems like dirt but it's like stuck to my rims and near impossible to get off!

I think they are pitted and oxidized/corroded

You might be better off getting new wheels as the surface is damaged.

You think maybe sandblasting them would help?

I second that, those erasers are very good. There's a special pack just for wheels/tires. Here are some before and after pix of 1 of my rims on my '96.

After:

Not perfect, but a lot better.

Yup, +1 on the magic eraser too. Used them on my rims and they came out pretty decent.

Where can I buy the magic eraser for tires from?

Is there anywhere that sell's these in a smaller count? Everywhere I look only sell's them in bulk. I seriously don't want to drop $40 on 40 pads of Mr. Clean® Magic Eraser® Extra Power.

I bought them at a supermarket that has an automotive section. It was like a pack of 4 erasers for like $5 IIRC.

I tried the magic erasers but they still pretty much look the same.
Would aircraft stripper work on these if I wanted to repaint my wheels myself?

yes wheel acid is a good route. I detail cars up in canada for a living and i use a mild wheel acid to clean wheels, works every time. aluminum polish works too. ultimatly your choice.

LOL those rims look brutal man. Definitely gonna take some time...
I take off my rims one at a time to clean so you can get inside and all around.
(Dish Detergent + Hot Water + Scrubby brush) x elbow grease = Squeeky clean ftw
