Water spots on windows

Water spots on windows

So my wife drove my car while I was gone for a while, washed it a bunch, and didn't know that she couldn't just let it air dry ...So now I have waterspots on all my windows and I couldn't get them off...I've read on the "Net" about different solutions, but we all know what happens when you listen to untrusted sources from the internet {you pour sand in your intake manifold}...So I want to know what people here have done to rid themselves of those pesky spots...I tried a couple times with no luck, but I was only using common cleaners...I've heard about Vinegar, using 0000 steel wool, and things like glass science scrub {also heard that ****s up windows}...anyways, what are your experiences getting rid of waterspots???

No...I don't know too much about detailing...
I heard of alot of things to try, but this is the first regarding waxing your windows...maybe you could enlighten me?

Definitely wax your windows. That's what I do and it works everytime. I use a spray wax for the windows though.

i used steel wool but it leaves very fine scratches, not noticeable unless at night under a street light and your looking for them.

Do you remember what weight you used? I've heard that 0000 won't scratch...

000 and 0000 is the same ****.

I used car wash soap/water in a spray bottle to prevent anything major.

Claybar all your windows and then wax. Not only will it remove teh spots but all your side windows will roll down so much easier. Mothers sells a good clay bar kit.

I have a polish that is specifically designed for removing spots from glass, it works great and leaves a nice smooth finish, unless the spots are from "acid rain" in which it is actually etched into the glass and can not usually be removed.

It's called Duragloss Nu-glass and you can still find it.

Just try really good glass cleaner. My gf did the same thing I had some Armorall glass cleaner just scrubbed it good, dried it with a towel and it was fixed

definitely try a glass cleaner and elbow grease first, then try a polish if that doesn't work, then go clay bar imo

Clay bar with some Mother's Showtime quick detailer worked quite well for me. If they are REALLY bad spots, try some Zaino Z-12 Glass Polish http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...oduct_Count=14

This stuff works magic, especially if your car has a few years on it. Restores the clarity of all your windows.

by no means to hijack this thread, but you mind enlighting us with acid rain statement? Reason why im asking is, because long time ago i used rubbing alochol or acetone(cant remember) to take tree sap off the window. Now, tree sap is gone, but the spot that was sprayed shows very bad. Its clear, but its visible like water spot.

i work for nissan/toyota and whenever we have customer vehicles that request for water spot removal, we use savage acid and dilute it with soap and the water spots come right off but you have to be careful because if your vehicle is to warm/hot, youll burn your paint. It works awesome on windows, another alternative is using really fine steel wool with no thick steel in it, i think its the finest thinnest version of steel wool, you can pick up a box from home depot and Steel Wool works really good on windows. If the water spots aren't deep, i recommend Steel Wool because it'll do the job. (just make sure that you apply at least 5-6 sprays of window cleaner because if you dont, it can scratch your windows. hope that helps
