Repair Options

Does anyone have an idea what it would take to get the scratch in the picture below repaired? The scratch is through the clearcoat and paint. This is the result of a rock being kicked up on the interstate and bouncing off my hood.

I have performed repairs on scratches like that one with great success. I live in Fredericksburg, but I work in Ruther Glen.

What I basically do is touch up the area twice (to make sure the scratch is filled) and wetsand the area with two passes of 2000 grit and then a final 3000 grit. To finish it off, I compound the area and then polish with my DA (Optimum/Mernzerna polishes). I can also perform the repair with a rotary buffer, but there's no need for a rotary when I'm using fine grit. I'll make sure that the entire hood is properly polished, so the repair area is barely detectable.

Just to give you a heads up ... No touch up paint bottle is going to match your paint 100%. The repair I perform is almost undetectable, but when people get up close, some will notice the slight paint mismatch. I just repaired a Kia Rondo that had a single scratch running across the entire left side of the car. The owner had a hard time detecting the repair.

PM me if you are interested.
