Car washing... in a pinch

This is a one time quick wash i want to get done with no typical car wash soap, and want to get a quick alternative to soap via house hold products..
I searched around the web for alternatives to using typical car wash soap.
I found 2 plausible suggestions

vegetable oil-based combination if you want the shiniest car on the block. The vegetable oil will give the car a shinier appearance and help repel bugs and other dirt that may try to hitch a ride with you.

Combine one tablespoon of a vegetable oil-based liquid soap, such as Murphy's Oil Soap, with two gallons of warm water.

Use extra soap for the extremely soiled areas, rinse with your garden hose or pressure cleaner and dry with a chamois or soft flannel cloth to avoid spotting and give the car extra shine.
use a shampoo thats inexpensive, use as much as you need to keep the water sudsy, the important part of washing, is the rinsing, using a mr clean car wash nozzel that has a filter cartridge in it will keep the water from spotting and give your car a very clean shine.
and.... was wondering how the org thought of these.
You guy ever hear of using this stuff in a pinch??
im leaning towards shampoo being a good idea...

I don't see why shampoo wouldn't work. I don't think the oil thing is a good idea.

yeah and using murphy's oil (wood/furniture polish) can't..be too good hahaha

I think i am just going to be patient and buy the proper stuff, do my interior thoroughly first and wait to do the exterior right with the right soap.

I used to own a Ford Ranger. The day that I had it painted, the shop told me to use Baby Shampoo for the first few washes because it was gentle to the paint.
