Usually to rent dyno time is around $100 an hour, but that can vary quite a bit depending on the shop. A dyno tune consists of setting up the cars air to fuel ratio to an optimum, yet safe point to create the most power. Sometimes the dyno tune also involves adjusting the ignition timing to the optimum, but safe point as well. In order to do a dyno tune though, you must have a set-up that allows adjustment of the AFR or ignition timing. Sometimes for your money you will get someone who will help you find those set points. Sometimes you have to pay extra to get a pro to set it up for you. Many speed shops and tuner places have dynos that you can get dyno tuning done at. What you get for your money is usually dependent on the shop, and that can vary greatly.

He hit it right on basically. A/F Ratio is what most Dyno's tune for. Some places tune for highest torque... some for highest HP, all depends on what you're looking for or what kinda setup you have.

When we tune a carb car, we tune it on the primary jets only, the secondaries, etc etc....
W/ nitrous cars (big dog), we tune for max torque and nitrous ratio, etc...

All kinds of things, but for basic tuning, A/F ratio is where your gains will be.

An A/F thingy?? Besides the A/F "thingy" you'll need some way to tune ie SAFCII, VAFCII, Emanage Blue, Emanage Ultimate etc. Search and read up some. Read the stickies here and in the All Motor Forum.

As for losing track of threads, go to your User CP in the top left portion of the screen, click it, then go to "List subcriptions" to see what threads you're subscribed too (assuming you have the correct settings in your user profile or click "add subscription" whenever you post...)
