Out with the A/C

Ok I took off the whole complete A/C system everything attached to the A/C is gone. I know I live in MIAMI but I've been accustomed to driving with no A/C. I was just curious to know if there are any others out there that have done this and if you have any numbers with no A/C.

I'll find out later when I'm done with this swap but I just want to here what you guys have to say as far as what numbers to expect.

Would gains be similar to UDP?

Well the UDP is on the way.
With this combo I should be looking at 12whp to 18whp

I thought this was very interesting info for you UDP guys. This explains the effects of having a UDP.

there is no way the gains are that much because there are many other things that lose power at the wheels on are car like axles ,wheels, ect.If it was just 12-18whp for that stuff than are cars would have to loose like 55 HP on a dyno.

But i would say crank Pulley ,no AC and no power steering is worth 9-13 whp but its the best gains everywhere

Here are the Dynojet results after the UDP install, superimposed over the stock graph, Run #1:
Max Power = 208.8 (Increase of 4.45%)
Max Torque=228.4 (Increase of 4.82%)

http://www.greghome.com/Greg%27s%20G...xSE/2K2UDP.htm
BTW aren't these numbers a little low for a stock 3.5?

Well I just figured with the UDP and NO A/C combined would give me at least 13whp. But who knows I'm just trying to free up as many ponies as possible

Damn but I won't go that far and remove the power steering

Heh you need to look into it a bit more. They used the lowest baseline run out of 3 and compared it to the highest "after" run. Let me give you a link on the very same site to all 3 baseline runs.

Look down at the last 3 pictures. You will see how manufacturers publish gains.

Honestly I can't even go by this dyno because it's with a car that has not even been broken in yet the numbers are very conservative according to greghome. 205whp 218wtq was there best run stock.

Damn cus, you know for now no AC down here in Miami is OK, but once summer comes around and its 100+, high humidity, and you stuck in traffic, I don't know how you're gonna do it. Unless you put back the AC for summer. In the summer I only use the AC when I'm stuck in traffic or I got other people in the car with me.

Fred, UDPs are useless in the 1/4 mile. They were originally designed for engines that see road race duty to improve their responsiveness and nothing more.
