Quick Question (VQ35DE Versions)

I bought a 2002 Altima 3.5 engine for my 3.5 swap in my 1995 and I was wondering... apparently 2002 maximas have the same torque (246 lbs) but are 10-15 hp more powerful than 2002 Altimas (246 lbs-tq and 240-245 hp)according to Nissan.

Is the difference in ECU tuning and exhaust and not in the engine itself? I only bought the engine no ECU yet and the exhaust system will all be aftermarket.

Or is there no difference at all? I know stock 02-03 6-speeds dyno around 205 HP, 220 lbs-TQ. What about 2002 Altimas? Could not find it on Altima.net, don't they have a dyno section too?

I believe it's mostly exhaust and ecu tuning...so your right...what you should do is call up a ecu tuning company (ie. JWT, TS)...etc.

now when you go to the Z (287hp)...there is more than different exhaust and ecu tuning going on to achieve that much more over the altima/maxima 3.5L...

Grapevine says no real difference in 240hp Altima rating vs. 255hp Maxima. Also, the Altima has a 5spd and the Maxima has a 6spd too, so maybe there's some driveline losses difference, and the Altima has a dual probably less restrictive exhaust.

I wouldn't be worried about the rated HP difference, since some Altimas' have put down similar or even better numbers with mods IIRC.
