Actually, 246.64 w/ a smoothing factor of 5

Did some runs after a 4 year hiatus. (5-4-07 was my last session)

The differences are the intake, spacers and Cattman 3", and fast cat.

My last dyno was LRMAF (fully screened, 82mm( strapped directly to the cone filter, ub3r short and no velocity stack and a test pipe with Cattman b equipped with the moroso spiral flow race muffler, cherry bomb 18" resonator and stock muffler.

This new intake incorporates the stock Helmholtz, custom 3" ID MAF housing (no screen and 76.2mm vs 82mm ID) and JWT POP (3"ID).

And the spacers, except I do not have the elbow to manifold spacer installed because of my SSIM, haven't had the time to shave the center section.

I think that's it.

In my experience, I've seen that the stock Helmholtz + POP gives the smoothest power delivery curve. Tomorrow will prove or disprove this theory. (no 5200RPM hump).

I also seriously feel like it has more pull with the new PUR engine bushings. Tires lose traction even easier than before the bushings at about 6000-7000RPM.

Threw on my lightweight 17's this afternoon to keep things similar and remove any variability, by the way, compared to the Z33 tracks, it looks like shyt now.

Long story short, ran out of time, only got 2 runs in, she's got more in her with some finer MAF conditioning.

Good news is that I gained an average of 10 ft/lbs from 3700 - 4400 and 3-5 whp from 4700-5500 and 5-8hp from 6000-7000. Peak #'s weren't very different than last time.

246.64@ 5911 RPM / 242.82 @ 4336 RPM. Taking out 12-14% fuel early on from 4000-5500 then gradually down to about -7% from 5500 to 7100.

AFR was 13.5 or so then down to 13.2 towards 6000 - 7100. It likes being leaner. Gained about 3 peak whp on the second run from removing fuel globally about -2-3%. I think going -5% all around (total, so 2-3 more % from this run) would put me at around 250.

It sounded amazing too

I want to go a bit leaner next time

Nice. Get the a/f around 12.8 and you'll definatly gain more hp.

Seems to like the "leaness" though. I'll post a comp vs my old best vs my new best. Old best was around 12.8 or so.

That's the plan. I've got summer coming up, so I will have some free time on my hands. It sucks I have to switch from mac os to windows every time I want to tune or check run files. I'll also be able to get back with Vivid Racing again and talk my car over with some techs.

def think youd make better #s with a richer tune, my 4.5 and my buddies 5.5 both liked the 12.8s-12.9s ober 13s , while on the dyno

i guess timing can come into play, maybe me and my boy had some slight knock which was mitigated by the richer mix

I thought I'd post this for informational purposes.

This essentially shows what a larger MAF, 3" exhaust, and an SSIM do.

This is skidz vs my dyno, man I wish he wouldn't have sold it

Not as of yet. The track is further than the dyno. Although during the summer they do have those import or legal street things that are cheap and are at night (keep DA's down).

I plan on dynoing again this Saturday, changing up fuel and using a test pipe and different intake.

True ..
Nothing special though.

From the top:

JWT POP/3" ID MAF/Stock Helmholtz
NWP spacers (minus the elbow to plenum)
SSIM
Cattman Gen I Headers
Cattman Fast Cat
Cattman 3" Catback
TS F-Spec
SAFCII

^^ Dont get me wrong I am just looking around on different forums to get an Idea were I am standing at.. I Dynoed about a year ago with numbers pretty close to yours before you added the SSIM and I did an SSIM for myself and added the NWP spacers, LRMAF and 3.5 SRI but didnt get a chance to Dyno I just went to track and saw an improvement of 2mph and -.10 from my PB on the 1/4mile thats why I am asking

So this is a dynojet that you went to with SAE corrected numbers?

Yeah, I lost power using the SSIM when I hadn't tuned for it (tuning being Z33 CVTC's and a higher rev limit).

Also, were your DA's nearly identical when you ran your comparative track times?

Yes Dynojet I have the runfiles and the Dynojet software so I can see them on any correction factor..
Yes I street tuned the afrs again after SSIM since they changed a lil bit..

I am going to try to go to Dyno again to see whats up..

Good numbers man. Good to see you have realized respectable gains across the rpm range with the changes. I just installed my spacers yesterday except I didn't have time to do the lower plenum spacers but did do the elbow spacer. Your car and numbers are inspiration for me to keep toying with my daily.

Yeah, these are pretty fun. I need to find me a real weekend toy though.

The spacer that has not been installed as of yet because I currently have an SSIM and I need to remove the center split on the spacer.

At the same time, before I do cams or anything of that nature (cams, advanced piggyback), I plan on doing a very thorough SSIM, really clean the heck out of it as 6_spd_Hayes did ... But I need a spare IM first.

Sure did. Thanks again.

I noticed you got a little hiccup in a couple of those runs, did you see or otherwise notice it?

During some of my runs I too have a similar dip and I actually witnessed the car sorta buck slightly.

Also, you're in 3rd gear, but when did you go WOT for those runs, and did your lock-up lock? Looks as if it what mind did for my first runs ever, there is a small, what looks like a loop in the hp/tq band and it was indeed my lock-up.

And did in any of the runs did it downshift?

And you will get this a lot from me ... why not rev it to 6550?

Yes I was having Issues with the settings on my VAFC that was causing a lean spot at that time i fixed them later on and the problem with the revs its that i hit the speed limiter on 3rd gear before 6500 and yes I probably engaged the lock-up I was a novice on Dyno with automatics at that time... And yes I think car downshifted on one of the runs..

Hehe yeah, check out http://forums.maxima.org/dyno-discus...no-thread.html and you'll see I did the same thing when dynoing this thing.

That's strange that you hit the limiter. Even before my ECU, I never hit the limiter in third and was able to go all out to 6600 or whatever it is.

Also, did you have an independent WB since I don't see any AFR on your DRf's, or at least I hope that's not your AFR, 14.7 all the way ...

I went to the track on Monday and I managed to get 13.96@100mph on regular street tires with some weight reduction spare and jack no rear seats and passenger seat so now I am happy with my SSIM and the 3.5 SRI and LRMAF still on stock ECU and VAFCII I am going to get the 3.5" IM elbow done to see if there its any improvement over my modified stock elbow...
