Now it seems right.

So in short, go with a stock MAF, not the 3.5".

Add a grip of timing + bolt ons.
Fixed.

They are. While their outer diameters are also 3", I wanted to clarify that it was the stock MAF that I tested, not the sensor in a custom 3" housing like that of my 3.5" MAF.

Ahhhh. I see. Interesting. Stock MAF. Hmm.

That's wild.

I've got my best dynos using the 3" ID MAF. So maybe this is just a 3.5 thing (larger MAF = better).

I have yet to test the 3.25"(LR) and 4" MAF under all the same circumstances, being all the same ID piping (3.25/4). But the 3.25" MAF and 3.25" piping didn't gain me anything vs the 3.0" MAF, and I have yet to dyno the 4"er.

But in the 3.25's defense, the timing wasn't optimal as it was in the case of the 3".

I sold my 3.5" piping sans the LRMAF that I still have, but I do have all the 4" piping that I have yet to install.

Should be interesting. I hope to post about it soon.

Lets at least get ID and OD straight and only use one of them. All of my posts reference OD unless otherwise stated.

I don't have a 3" bbmaf, but might consider making one.

As far as it being a 3.5L only thing, I disagree. Sparks made about 6whp and 5wtq over stock & 3" piping. If you look at my runfiles (I emailed them to you) Low end suffered, but the 3.5" did make a few more ponies up top. My assumption is that the 3.5L simply can make better use of the extra airflow at all rpms.

What was your timing at for the 3.5" vs the 3"? Get that utec installed so you don't have to ghetto rig it to control ignition timing.

I sold the UTEC months ago, then it got sold again.

I'm still rigging the ghetto using the 440's, 4" and SAFCII.

I'd say go with a 3.25 and see what it does.

One thing to consider with all this MAF ID talk is that these all vary in VQ land.

All actual ID's:

My 3" is 77mm (3.03"), my LRMAF is 82mm (3.23"), and my 4" is literally 101mm(3.98"). Stock is as we all know 2.75" (70mm)
