Since we got our dynojet last year we have decided to throw out all previous testing on FWD VQ's!
Safe to say we have learned a LOT. We are making MORE power with LESS mods!
We like to keep it simple, Intake, headers, exhaust and full tune. This works well on stock internal engines.
Here we have a 2003 Maxima with 2009 Maxima FWD HR engine
NISformance high power 3.5" intake
Headers
3" catback
Haltech
255lph fuel pump
stock HR injectors
best runs are 314 whp and 286 tq STD CF
308 whp and 280 tq SAE CF
Red = short length intake pipe
Blue = longer intake pipe
Green = even longer intake pipe
Yellow = my original FWD HR swap back in 2012
As you can see we have major gains vs my old 02 first fwd hr swap car!
Also our high power intakes are tuned for a specific rpm (change the pipe length 1 inch and this changes) Thats a very nice bump in power at 6500 just from using a specific length intake pipe! We are still working on intake development, trying to release them later this year!
We are continuing to test and find ways to make the most power possible with FWD VQ!
Did something happen that allowed a full ECU swap to a 5.5th gen to be much easier or are you just really good at it?
This year we finally got a reflash for 02 03 maxima ecus. so now they are fully tunable, we have done several here. So that being said, the 4th gen full 02 03 3.5 ecu swap is actually worth doing now that the ecu can be tuned. Before simply swapping a stock 02 03 ecu was not that great, the stock tune is horrible for power. We are seeing insane gains on these cars.
