1. I like the idea of showing all the generations (such as in the z forum header above)

2. It is a bit dark. Is it based on a Borg ship in Star Trek: TNG?

3. Stick with the old slogan. No reason to change.

4. Navi is for homos who can't read a map. Know where you're going before you go....

It seems the forum can embrace both homos and bigots.

But everything else is a spot-on observation, Irish, and seems to represent consensus in these last few entries.

Because people always have time to memorize a map before they go somewhere they don't know

I like the new banner for sure, we should rep the newest generation. Just like when a new type of TV comes out, or a new video game console, or really any new technology for that matter, you don't see the old iteration in store windows, you see the new.

I did really like the old slogan though but I think we've all agreed on that.

My only complaint is I always referred to the non-italic decals as "old school" style. Now It's new school again. I'm not a fan of the slogan either. I do like the "all things maxima" or the original. Whatever the final decision is, I'll change the decals to match. ....just let me know what the final decision is. If the slogan is changing, I'll run a sale. Think of all the decals out there that say "the home of maxima enthusiasts".

I agree with the previous posts, I think all generations of Maximas should be featured on the banner and a few I30s. Because this isn't the 7th Gen forums, its the Maxima (Maxima meaning every generation of Maxima and the I30) forums.

But other than that, it is very nicely done and it looks very stylish! And it matches the dark .Org theme too

cuz there were less roads and less traffic

it would help if they'd stop re-routing highways every 3 years, in NC anyways. i40/i440 separation-to-union-to-separation-again in raleigh, and the i40/i40byp/i40bus/i40-i85/i85/i85bus decade-long clusterfawk in Greensboro

i've been through greensboro maybe 6 times... i don't think i ever managed to go the same way twice cuz they kept re-routing the highways an re-numbering the exits.

and stop naming roads after neighboring cities. there's a "chapel hill rd" and a "durham-chapel hill road" in durham and it's 2 totally separate roads. and one of them (or maybe both of them) have alternate names... US15/501 i think.

o and the new banner sucks whale *********

for all of the reasons stated above..

imo the old one looked cleaner and more polished. obviously the slogan is kinda misleading, and my main fuss about using a 7th gen is that it in no way, shape, form, or derivation thereof embodies what a "Maxima" is supposed to be. It's a fat posh luxury cruiser, not a 4DSC at all.

And yea new banner sucks. I just try and put myself in a visitors shoes when they enter our site. Would you be impressed see just a stock 7th gen Max on the banner? Or would you be impressed to see each and every generation Maxima on the banner?

IMO having all the gens on the banner can showoff EVERY gen owners style and ideas.

-Another idea. Maybe on the banner we could post a pic of the last 3 MOTM, and as a new MOTM winner is announced, their photo goes up, and the oldest photo is removed?

Now THAT'S a pretty good idea. Once a month updates would have to be a labor of love for whomever does it. It's by no means a difficult task, but a definitely a repetitive one... month after month after month.

Still, I love the idea. Integrate the MOTM into the site banner.

i kinda like the new banner, dont remember what the old slogan was but this one will do i guess.

i like the idea of having all the generations of maxima's on there, or maybe just all the gauge clusters from all gen's would work too...

the quality of pics from MOTM is not good for a banner.
and yes month after month i do the MOTM...yes labor of love but there's no way it can be incorporated into MOTM...sorry. there's not enough nominations to do a full year. for 09 i have to kill it for 3 months.

please stop beating the dead horse.
- YES WE WILL CHANGE THE BANNER
- YES WE ARE TRYING TO INCORPORATE ALL GENS
- NO WE ARE NOT DOING MOTM ON A BANNER

this is not yourownwebsite.org i'm trying to accomidate some of the requests but can't do it all.

for the ones that complain that it doesn't look good...please submit your proposed banner.

Then who's website is it? Does the domain registration trace back to you personally? How do you get to be Banner Master here? (Oh crap, I'm laughing at my own joke right now. Sorry.)

Dan, you changed the one image which represents this online community, and then flat out dared people to "Cry about the new banner". So now we're crying, some more constructively than others, when barely two days later we're beating a dead horse? Say it with me, Dan... Serenity now... serenity now...

I get that you're stressed, even though I don't know what it is that you do here, or why you're stressed out. I'm thinking if you asked for help, you'd probably get it. Maybe I'm wrong. But to the point that this is not yourownwebsite.org... in many respects it actually is. Like you, lots of people here have spent hundreds of hours of their life on the Org, which makes it kind of community property. (Emotionally speaking, of course. Which won't even buy you a cup of coffee, but you probably get my meaning.)

I think we're all looking forward to seeing the next Org banner. Thanks for taking all these opinions under consideration.

Sup guys, I did the design, but this was done with other skin in mind (bluemaxx) and I will make some of the changes...but by all means submit your banner on the other thread that was created:

http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?p=7359747

This isn't a "challenge" being layed out but whatever is best for the org will be posted. The constructive comments will be taken into consideration all others FAIL, lol

At the end of the day not everyone will be happy with what the final banner will look like weather its done by me or anyone else...but it is what it is, free country, free to give opinions and free to hate...

As for why a 7th Gen was used...it's what's already on the other skin...

Not sure where the hell I came up slogan lol but def will go back to the original unless Dan tells me otherwise

Thank you all for the positive and negative comments, at the end everything will be considered to make the final design

Happy New Year!

Hey Chino. Did you come up with NYMaximas' banner as well? They kind of look the same. Is there any way to differentiate them more? Don't get me wrong. Great work!!!

Even though Infinity holds a lot of the same characteristics as Maximas, I don't believe they should be displayed in the banner. Remember, this is a Maxima forum and not a Maxima-like forum.

right...after the first 12 hours there were comments to change the tag line back to the orig. that's being addressed. after that was addressed people kept on asking for the old tag line back. so yes....you and others are beating a dead horse when it's decided we will go back to the old line unless there's a better one that everyone can agree on....which i don't see happening.

i'm not stressed at all. just telling the members to stop constantly repeating the same comment over and over...OK WE GET IT...it's going back to the old tag line. no i'm not stressed...you don't know me at all. please don't make it sound like you know me.

this is my attempt to freshen up the forum. the old banner was on there for a long time....but if there's such an issue with the new banner then the old banner can go back on and we can make believe none of this happened. i requested the change and it was implemented so if there are any issues i'm willing to take the heat.

as to your own website...yes it's a web site you guys come on to talk/discuss about a common topic and some not so common. most sites won't hear feedback from the members. they change it and it's take it or leave it. i made this thread in partial humor (thread title) and partially to hear some feedback on what you guys think. i like to think that it's a two way street and yeah it's your site too but some of the comments are going a little over board.

if you have any other topics you would like to discuss you're more than welcome to PM me so we don't stray from the topic here.

Great!! It sounds like you have what it takes to make this work. IMO, I think the banner should look nothing like any other forum's. I don't have the ability to create anything, but I can throw things out there.

Honestly, every generation, although by concept a great idea, would look overly crowded. What if we stayed away from having a vehicle on the banner? Why not something else? The old banner had an engine with a cluster or something like that, did it not? Why not go that route? Maybe a boost gauge in a nice red with a different color background. I don't know for sure. I just think having a Maxima is entirely lame. If anything, put a 1st Generation Maxima up there. Maybe dress it up a little bit. Make it look sick!!! Maybe even RWD..You get my "drift" right?

Using other members pics on the banner would be another alternative. Although it would take much more work. It wouldn't have to be only MOTM. There are a lot of sick rides here!! Alternate it every three to six months or whatever. It would be possible and ultimately it's what would make this forum stand out from any other one. Please let me know if there is any way I could assist in this.

THE MAXIMA COMMUNITY DESERVES IT!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE!!!! LETS MAKE THIS ONE WORK!!! LET PUT ALL OUR HEADS TOGETHER!!!

Sorry I am yelling...Sometimes I get pumped up over this ****..LOL..LOL..

But I didn't say to use the I30 as the main representative of the Maxima, but only to include it along side the Maxima in the banner, so it would envelope everything Maxima.

I mean for all we know there could be another complaint coming from I30 owners, about how the I30 and Maxima are extremely alike and share the forums but aren't adequately represented in our banner

Oh and I am working on some layouts right now, but I am sure it won't be any where as good as what Chino can do haha.

And Danny is right, there are several places like the Hero Online forums (Excuse my nerdiness) where they add a bunch of random things in-game and on the forums that makes things extremely hard to use, not to mention delete every complaint thread and so we are lucky to have someone like Danny, hats off to a great Administrator!

On topic with the new site banner... active members probably have a lot of pride in the Org, having invested their opinions give and take. Supporting members maybe even more so. Personally, this forum has become very important to me over the last year. I love it. That’s why there are strong opinions about changing the site banner.

I don’t know who Danny is from anything other than this site banner issue, and that doesn’t matter anyway. What matters is continuing to feel a part of this forum, all personalities included.

So I’m excited to see what a new banner will look like after having taken into account opinions of the larger community. Can’t wait to see it.

Yeah... me too. Probably more time than I should.

I've been playing with a banner design in the Photoshop section of the Org. I figured maybe I should invest more than just philosophical BS, and see if I could muster up enough image editing skills to contribute something slick.

BigOgre had an idea, there were some comments... even Chino weighed in. I have to say, I'm feeling pretty good about the last revision. Go see:

Chino props for your effort

I would vote to stay with the old slogan.

I very much liked the diagram of the vq motor in the old one, pretty cool IMO.

I agree with Josh in that other generations should be represented in some way even if the 7th gen itself stays.

I dont think its too dark at all, I like the color combos!!
