The Official - Cry about the new banner thread

graphically it's nicely done
the slogan "source for nissan maximas" is stupid as hell....didn't realize the org sells maximas or parts for maximas. What was wrong with the old slogan?
not that I dislike the 7th gen partiuclarly, but seems kind of lame to make it totally 7th-gen centric considering 99.5% of the people here have other generations of maximas.....plus the 7th gen on the left looks wierd for some reason...

not feeling it, the slogan makes it sound like we sell actual cars only, and 7th gen only in the pic (when 4th and 5th gens seem to be the most popular)
would be cool if we could get a banner with the old slogan and have a collage of all the generations of Maximas in it just sayin

some feedback to your feedback...
- why 7th gen? - it happens to be the newest maxima. The content of the old banner was from the latest maxima at the time.
- slogan - ok that can be tweaked.
- no nav - well welcome to 2006..what can i say? nav is available in a honda civic.
- for the ones that feels it's amateur i'll will be expecting your submissions on a banner. please PM me a link. thanks.
Keep the feedback coming.

I think the banner is awesome. I agree about the slogan. Did you do the banner Dan?
Slogans:
1) Maxima.org: Your Nissan Maxima Information Source
2) Maxima.org: All things Maxima
3) Maxima.org: Home to Maxima Enthusiats (old slogan maybe?)

Personally, I don't like it. I appreciate the effort that went into its design, but not the design itself.
It's dark and awkwardly balanced. Clearly it was created to best integrate with the "Dark Style" site theme. But I use the "Default Style" theme because it's easier to read. Swap presentation styles and you'll see that the new banner sticks out like a sore thumb.
I agree with the comments about "The Source for Nissan Maximas". It's just grammatically goofy. This is a community for Maxima enthusiasts, not the cars themselves. When searching for alternative wording, consider this: you don't have to say anything as a byline. "Maxima.org" is fine all by itself.
Finally... a 7th Gen? Seriously!? It's a beautiful car, to be sure, but not at all representative of the forum community. For byline, how about, SHIFT_pretend?

Here's an idea...
7 overlapping front-corner car shots, left-to-right across the banner, showing the 7th Gen to the 1st Gen in sequence. Grayscale the images for continuity, and blend the layers together so the transition isn't so stark. Then introduce color with the URL logo beneath, and the gauges to the right. (I actually like the gauges.) Lastly, border the entire image so the forum link-tools are differentiated, and the image doesn't float awkwardly regardless of selected theme.

I like it but with the old slogan instead. What's wrong with showing the latest generation? We all know every generation is represented on our site. I think our site should show the latest generation every time one comes out. I would also like to see some submissions because it's not easy to make something that everyone would like.

The new banner looks ok. I like the artwork and everything. But it looks kind of like a knock off from NYCMaximas.
The message however, hmmm.... Let's come up with something better. Rochester, I was liking your ideas.
Maxima.Org - Your Maxima Headquarters
Maxima.Org - Serving All Your Maxima Needs (kind of lame)

How about something like this?
Instead of the Skyline, have the 7th gen there. Instead of showing members rides, we can put pics of the other gens there. Insert "Home to Maxima Enthusiats" and "Maxima.org" somewhere and there you go.

+1 on the old slogan...
Banner looks kewl, but something is a little bit odd about it..I think it has too much black in it...like its TOO dark...i use the dark theme too but i duno, still looks like too much black..
overall i do like it tho, im sure it will grow on me...I have always really liked the old slogan tho...i wouldnt change it at all..

I am too lazy to switch themes, but as rochester said about the current one, it wouldn't fit the default theme.
like I said before, I like the logo, aside from the slogan. it would be nice to see some other gens on there (gonna go browse motm for the nicest ones to suggest)
Still like the old slogan, best; it fit the feel of the site. many of the others don't adequately fit the atmosphere this site has. While more accurate than the current logo's slogan, they just feel... meh... more white collar business, less "there's beer in the fridge, grab a couple, and hand me the 15mm"
Danny: c'mon, man, srsly? all these cars have navi, and I am too lazy to install one in my own? what is this world coming to?!??!

And yet you still wrote that down. You get an "A" for brainstorming, I suppose.
How about, "Maxima.org - because BMW's are too expensive"

I really like the theme in this graphic... the greyscale background, the filmstrip overlay. Excellent concept. The internal, gradient border doesn't work, however. But that filmstrip concept is awesome.
Nice example, ChrisMan.
Since the 7th Gen accounts for only 0.3% of the total car threads (including the I30/I35), it seems pretty audacious to assume representation for the entire Org community.

I think it's ok, I could live with the banner personally.... I like the idea of changing it up to all-gen theme banner, make sure everyone is included....
I volunteer pics of my 1st gen for the collage, whoever is making it, PM me and I'll let ya have all my pics you want lol
