PETITION: to reinstate the post minimum to make new threads

Dont know if this is going to do any good...

This is a petition to reinstate the post count minimum to create new threads. Its already getting out of hand with noobs (less than 5 posts) creating threads to ask SIMPLE things and things that have been covered 316546155 times.

I also believe we should have something like this that also has a link to the ADVANCED Search box
Name: threadstart.jpg
Views: 30
Size: 17.3 KB

Please vote YAY or NAY in the poll.

I'm yay....these noobs are really irritating me...the last thing I need is someone asking how do you turn the switch on for the rockery boosters to come out.

Eh, it doesn't really matter. They're all going to go around and post ***** to get their 15 posts anyway which is just as annoying if not more annoying because then they'll do that and make their simple threads.

Yeah but at least that makes them read and learn before posting

I rather have a noob bump an old thread rather than starting a new one. There are already enough junk threads to sift through as it is.

No because most of the time they bump random threads that have nothing to do with what they wanna know.

Same here. We were all noobs once, but the 15 post rule kept us from jumping the gun with our noobness.

Also, wasn't the 15 post minimum used as a way to deter spammers from flooding the forums with ads/sales/random BS?

Also, i do have to add that i did try to bump an old thread to get some info that i wasnt completely clear to me...unfortunately...not too long after i asked my question, was the post locked by a mod...didnt think that would happen...but it did...so yeah...

Everyone cries when a new thread is posted and a cry when old threads are bumped. This thread should be deleted. Its a waste of bandwidth.

It's better to have an old thread bumped than a new one created. There are this many threads: 493,385... At least when an old thread gets bumped, I can post this in response.

The 15 posts were to prevent spammers, not noob threads:

this.....

who cares if some n00b posts a question that has been answered a hundred times...If you dont want to answer the question, then just and move on to the next thread....the 15 post rule wasn't intended to stop n00b threads...

- 15 posts was to prevent spammers from spamming the board. we implemented new ways to prevent spamming.
- take your pick...noob bumping an old thread or posting in an unrelated thread just to get their count up...OR noob create new threads.
- you had to work with the 15 post rule...everyone else should? really? i used to have to use a paper map...now everyone have electronic GPS. let's remove all GPS systems and let's go back to paper maps and pay phones.

we can tell noobs to search until we're blue in the face. there's search everywhere...there's even a search box...search is stated in the stickies...you think they even look at the stickies?!...you think they care? they will post a new thread anyway. it's your call if you want to answer or move on.

as much as i like to see things get voted on...the noobs are clearly out numbered by the people who are not noobs...hence this poll will be very very bias towards turning back on the 15 post rule.

sorry...unless there's a serious problem (you crying about seeing someone create another thread that was answered is not considered serious) the 15 post rule will stay off.

Dan

IMO, it is better without the minimum. I am not saying it is good to have noobs starting all these new threads, but they are going to do it one way or another.

The minimum just makes them post random non-sense in threads and bump old threads just to get another post, not to contribute to the thread. Then once they get enough pointless posts, they just start the new thread anyway.

Well, thats what I did atleast.
