10 I belive its the capacity. The easiest way is (if your level is okay to start with) to put back in as much as came out.

The total dry capacity is ~ 10 quarts, but if you follow Nissan's recommended procedure to drain and refill it will take anywhere from 4.5 to 5.5 quarts depending on how long you let it drain, temp, etc. As recommended in another post to this thread, suggest you measure the amount that comes out. Assuming the level is correct before you start, measurement of the old oil will get you in the ballpark quicker and will minimize yoiur chances of overfilling. Ed

Here's a trick I learned the hard way. 1st time I changed the ATF on my Maxima, I captured and measured the old fluid. Then replaced the same amount with fresh fluid. Yet I had to check & add fluid for a week or so to make sure it was full. Never quite sure when it was right. When it came time to changed the fluid on my Altima, I checked the fluid cold and hot for 2 weekends prior to the job. That way I had a benchmark level on the tranny dip stick to compare. Then when I changed that fluid I was able to hit the mark exactly and did not have to add anymore later.

I would highly recommend a good synthetic fluid. I have used it with outstanding results for many years. It will flow well in extreme cold and will cool and protect in extreme use/high ambient temps. It's well worth the additional cost.

The first choice on that page is the correct one for you.
