Where do I start?

I'm bringing home my newly purchased '99 SE-L with 27.6K miles on 11/24. A safe assumption is that the only maintenence performed is regular oil changes as the maintenence log is blank. The car was driven an average of 7K per year in town. I will probably wait til 30K to put in synthetic oil because I want to establish a fuel efficiency baseline.

My question: Based on that history, what services/fluid changes should be done immediately and what can wait?

Thanks,

James

Change the oil and filter. Since you are in Texas, go with the Castrol GTX 10w-30 with a quality filter like a Bosch 3323 or a Mobil 1 M1-110. If you want to economize, the Purolator regular filter is not a bad choice and Chevron Supreme motor oil.

Plan on changing the tranny fluid at 30,000 miles or now, your choice. A synthetic fluid like Amsoil or Mobil 1 have better cold temperature flow and operation.

At 30k, I would change engine oil and filter, transmission fluid, coolant, fuel and air filters.
