For peace of mind, use the Nissan coolant. I am using Prestone orange coolant (Dexcool) but is regretting my choice. So far no problem after 50K miles, but every once in a while I read horror stories about Dexcool. I am reluctant to switch back to Nissan because to switch between Nissan coolant and Dexcool you need to flush the system really well (I am somewhat lazy and the engine drain bolt is impossible to remove).

I flushed my cooling system with Prestone antifreeze... no problems so far.

I splurged for the $15 a gallon Nissan coolant. Apparently this was discussed on another thread where it has a silicate free formulation that is lacking in the Prestone and similar stuff.

I did add Redline's water wetter, BTW.

Hmm, I am using the $5/ gallon prestone stuff with distilled water. I wonder if my next replacing I should do nissan. I am following motorvate.ca's advice and not flushing each time. The engine drain bolts are all but impossible to get at, so I'll simply dump out the radiator every 15k miles and run my garden hose through the top of it.
