Nissan Filter VS Amsoil filter

GOing to AMSOIL distributor tommorrow...

Which is better. I am going to use 0W30 oil... and i intend on oilchanging it every 10,000 KMS (not miles).. They recommend 25,000kms but that sounds too nutso to me.. ALso they said a nissan filter cannot last more than 6K anyways.

thoughts?

Ed,

Amsoil recommends their oil filter be changed 6 months/12,500 miles whichever comes first in the US. If I am doing metric correctly 25k kms is approx 15,525 miles. I believe 12,000 kms/7,500 miles would be a safer bet.

The Nissan filter could last 8K kms or 5,000 miles.

What car is using the 0w-30? Altima or Maxima? What brand of 0w-30 are you using? The Amsoil S2k 0w-30, Mobil 1 0w-30, or the German Castrol 0w-30?

Here is one of Moderator Bill's stickies about choice of oil and filters.

I hope this helps.

My bad. I read your profile wrong. I saw the 2002 R.I.P. and not the 2003 that replaced it. I should pay more attention to reading more carefully.

Which brand of 0w-30 are you going to use?

I just bought $500 worth of amsoil products.. 5 oil filters, 8 jugs, and 3 bottles of Series 2000 GL4 tranny..

LOL damn... expensive..

I am using the series 2000 0w30.

You are using the good stuff. Please do a used oil analysis (UOA) down the road. I am very interested to see how the S2K Amsoil 0w-30 performs.

I am currently using the Amsoil ASL 5w-30 but would consider the topline S2k product.
