Quarts of Oil??

This may sound stupid, But I was just wondering how many quarts of oil does the VQ35 take exactly? I never really knew. Thanks.

It's printed right in the owner's manual...but it's 4.25 quarts with a filter change.

Thats not very much. I always thought that was weird. My VQ30 has the same capacity of 4.25. My 1991 2.3L SAAB takes 4.5L.

Just wondering why car makers are using less and less oil. Maybe the new engines are just more efficient

Really? My buddy has a 99 Maxima SE...his VQ30 takes 3.75 quarts with a filter change. Maybe the VQ30 in the I30 is different?

Generally speaking, smaller oil capacities are not good...the less oil protecting the engine, the more of a beating it takes. Car makers are trying to cram as much engine as they can into smaller engine compartments/aerodynamic bodies...the problem is worsened because of front wheel drive....transaxles eat up space precious space. Much of the engine's cooling is done by the engine oil and today's engines run hotter than they used to. That's why it's very important to use a good quality oil, preferably a synthetic. European cars in general take more oil, although the cars are designed for more hi-speed driving; their oils are generally better than API spec; and their service intervals are much longer.

My '98 Max also holds 4.25 Q...
