Different blends of oil

I was just curious about what advantages there are to different types of oil.

I've always used 10W-30, but I know a guy who claims he gets more power out of his maxima by using something like 5W-30 or some **** like that. Is he a liar? Is this true? If so, will something like that hurt my engine? I really want more performance, but I don't have the money some people do to spend on mods. My best time at the track in the winter was 16.01, and I want to hit mid 15's.

Thanks guys

Chris

its a load of crap, because once the engine is warmed up, 5w-30 and 10w-30 have the same viscocity at running temps. 5w-30 will only help you in the winter, and since you are in arizona you probably don't even need to use it then.

Synthetic will give you a little more power over conventional oil, but that is due to less friction.

Just switching to synthetic still won't help you get to mid 15's either

Thanks for the replies. Im just gonna use regular synthetic oils, 10W-30. And that's not the only thing Ive got planned to get to mid 15's. Others are just little secrets that most people prolly know about, but don't bother to use when they have real mods.
