How long is this oil good for in terms of time and not mileage. The GF (commuter) will put less then 5,000 miles in one year, so will the oil be able to last a full year without breaking down? If it should be change before 1 year then should I just regular dino?

Although some folks use M-1 for extended periods (time and mileage), Mobil claims (and recommends) their product can be used for up to the maximum interval recommended by the car manufacturer.

I wouldn't go a year between oil changes regardless of the miles you are driiving. You should probably change it about every months, or at least change the filter at six months, assuming you are running synthetic.

Sorry, I meant to say change it every 6 months.

I change my oil every 10000 miles now. I'm running M1.

I think it would be ok if your normal commuting is beyond 10 miles. but you'd better follow manufacturer recommendation for frequent short trips.
